Where Does Rishabh Pant Stand Among the Great Wicketkeeper-Batters in Test Cricket?

Gilchrist as explosive as he was, he was still a more known quantity than the headcase that Pant is.

Adam Gilchrist was certainly more explosive but his style had the discipline of a proper batsman who was powerful but yet measured. In contrast, Rishabh Pant’s brilliance feels wild, unpredictable and almost chaotic in its charm. and that is a huge reason of his popularity. With every ball fans are on the edge of their seats wondering whether he will clear the ropes with a freakish six that defies logic or walk back to the pavilion.

Before I even get into reading the thread, I've seen 3 articles asking is he's the GOAT or among the greatest ever, and in none of them, none of them was the word " glove work" or "gloves" even mentioned.

So yes, in agreement.

What is the level of batsman Pant must end up to be seen as the equal/better of Gilly assuming decent level of wicket keeping, like he was pre accident?
Kohli? Or better, or worse?

Even in this match he's been average, no more. At this level he can't surpass Gilchrist regarding how good a batsman he becomes.

Imho he needs to elevate his keeping to at least world class to even merit consideration.

I would agree mostly but if he became proper ATG with the bat theoretically, he could challenge Gilly then ig

Gilchrist is like the perfect choice in ATG team
1. Great batsman. Good keeper
2. Plays at number 7 position

I do not think there is any one to challenge him for a place in an ATG team unless someone wants great keeper and good batsman(Alan Knott)

eh, bit disrespectful to Kohli comparing him with Gilchrist, as great as the latter was. Kohli faced and excelled at for a long time at a different set of challenges entirely as a batsman.
