1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

Bumrah has now bowled 28 overs in the match, if England can see him off it’s hard to see where the other threats are. I also expect it to finish before there’s any chance of a 2nd new ball. Fascinatingly set up, let’s hope the weather plays ball…
Bumrah is a freak , but yeah if India are to win he is going to have to do some serious heavy lifting tomorrow.

It seems he can only play 3 of the five tests so India have to win a minimum 2 of those because in the other 2 tests they are ****ed.

A draw with Bumrah exhausted wouldn't be a bad result for England at all.

Jeez, india really needs to get something out of their lower order. I suspect that’s a reason Thakur was picked but he’s offered nothing. You don’t expect them to add hundreds, but they’re virtually six out all out atm.

Out of curiosity what was the worst Aussie lower test order you can remember of the last 20-25 years?

They always seemed to have someone competent at 8 or 9 at least.

Yeah this would be close to the worst on talent. There's been quite a few who've underperformed at different times though

Dale at 8 is pretty nosebleed stuff.

I looked up the 1995 Ashes Test where Angel/McDermott/McGrath batted together and it was pretty amusing that England had to resort to run outs for all 4 dismissals of those tailenders (including Angel as nightwatchman).

EDIT: It was a very, very poor England team overall.

Whatever it takes!!!
Worth having the left hander Sai at 3. He seemed to negotiate the moving ball better than Nair who struggled a bit against the second new ball.
Yeah I dont really mind but I think Karun deserves a longer rope first up. Sai has age on his side. Plus almost all of Karun's success have come batting at 3.

There was absolutely zero reason not to start at 10:30 today to make up time.

Just bloody red tape and tradition instead of common sense and playing cricket.
You can not control the weather. Lets say they played more time yesterday and today, but end up not losing any time tomorrow. What then? Do they end tomorrow early anyways? Or do you have a Test where the fear of rain lead to extra overs being played across the 5 days? How do you think the players, spectators, broadcasters, staff paid to work at the event will feel about either outcome?
