That’s moving the goalposts though? & we've won more series than lost since the inception of Bazball, by a reasonable distance at that.

But it’s moot to my point anyway. Would we get higher totals playing some sort of ‘proper’ cricket? I refuse to believe that could be the case with anyone in this lineup aside from Root, who reverted to excellent type post-India, and possibly Stokes.

Harry Brook clearly stepped up the aggression when Smith got out. It yielded quick runs. We can’t then bemoan the wicket, because it’s part of the same package.
I'd like to see the approach evolve.

It's been very much the same every game for 3 years. It comes off better some days than others.

Brook on another day was out for 0 with 3 deliveries left in the day and we end up all out before lunch and 150 behind.

England can have their aggressive approach while also questioning why have you played that shot on 99 Brook and Smith why have you exposed Woakes to the new ball Bumrah. The two can be mutually exclusive.

Just because results have improved doesn't mean they are devoid of criticism.

Your coming from a view that's not possible on both. I will disagree.

It's all very much moot though cos it doesn't make an iota of difference what any of us think.

Nah don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you can’t criticise. It’s more that for me, the times that have gone badly have more been an exposure of age old English failings - the defeats last year in India and Pakistan for example. For any game lost that we shouldn’t you can find a ridiculous win.

Would be amazed if Bumrah plays the second given how much he's going to have to come back for a new spell.

what's the point now? you let 2025 Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse put 60 when you could've gotten a 40-50 run lead

I wouldn’t say I’m sold on trying to clear boundary fielders as a strategy against the short ball. But in general I find the criticism much more braindead than the cricket, which is really very carefully thought out. And if you have any memory of English batting in the prior decade it can only be described as a spectacular success.
