1st Test (Leeds) - 20th June

He played some great shots and got to 57 before the first drop, Bumrah overstep was skill issue
Agree. A no ball is an illegal delivery meaning the bowler has obtained an advantage. In a sport where millimetres matter, I’ve never understood people calling no ball wickets ‘let offs’.

I wonder what the plan to Brook and Smith will be the rest of this series.

Same in Australia with even bigger boundaries.
I don't think much would change, Brook almost scored a hundred after all, I just think psychologically they would be a bit more careful, think of the Joe Root dismissal to the reverse scoop in India.

Woakes is a pretty capable batsman. I still remember his test ton at Lords against a much stronger Indian attack in 2018. Carse also has some decent batting performances from Durham.

Not winning series?
That’s moving the goalposts though? & we've won more series than lost since the inception of Bazball, by a reasonable distance at that.

But it’s moot to my point anyway. Would we get higher totals playing some sort of ‘proper’ cricket? I refuse to believe that could be the case with anyone in this lineup aside from Root, who reverted to excellent type post-India, and possibly Stokes.

Harry Brook clearly stepped up the aggression when Smith got out. It yielded quick runs. We can’t then bemoan the wicket, because it’s part of the same package.

Defs a partnership that can frustrate India and get us a lead.

Rubbish fielding and mediocre bowling will help England coast to 500 without even putting much of an effort. We will look back on this session when India inevitably loses this test match on day 5

A major strength of England's compared to India is their lower middle order and tail, just like Australia and South Africa. Though slightly weaker without Atkinson, Potts, and Wood, much of ENG's lower order can at least hit about 15-20 runs or so if not more (except Bashir, perhaps). In 2018, Sam Curran out of all people was the difference between India winning 3-2 and England 4-1. Can't say the same about Siraj, Prasidh, etc.

This makes me angrier than when ALL of India's pacers sucked because at that point it was just resignation. This is like tantalizing because it COULD be good but yet its still ****.

Imagine if this fraud Prasidh gets 5-fer over Bumrah. ****er is going at over 6 an over ffs. This should call for an immediate axe.
