DDS needs to rotate the bowlers more. He needs to give the quicks a few more overs and he has to bowl himself a lot more. Also, it might be worth giving Mathews a few overs in his last game and maybe even throw the ball to Kamindu for a few. Change it up a bit.
You're talking about a captain who recently only used four bowlers while the opposition stacked on 650 with barely a sweat

yeah mathews is a fair shout even with the new ball. He missed a trick by not bowling him

My main hope for the series is that Mathews gets his average back up to 45 (I think he’s 68 runs adrift at the moment), without watching a ball of this match, is it fair to say it’s a batting paradise, or have Sri Lanka just bowled really poorly?

Day 1 and Day 3 can be very different in Galle. Bangladesh have took advantage of conditions and toss. It's not a pitch like Multan.

Those are classic Portuguese names. Blame the English for anything ending in singha or singhe.
Without being an expert in Sri Lanka, I'm surprised there aren't more Dutch names among Sri Lankans as I know there was a lot of Dutch influence (Vandersay and Vandort sound Dutch, but that's about all I can think of lol)

There are a reasonable number of Dutch names around in the country. I'm cousins with the Van Eykes for example. It's just that they represent a smaller potion of the population and the surnames get diluted after a while, so a Rathnayake may have some Dutch heritage in him from somewhere although the surname doesn't indicate that. I believe Mathews, for example, is Dutch from his mother's side.

Was hoping Isitha Wijesundara played. Looked mercurial when destroying South Africa A last year in South Africa. Sri Lanka may need to change tact at home if the spinners are not up to par. They have some fast bowling options.

Was especially hilarious given he was the fifth bowler. Just refused to bowl on that road.
There was the claim he had a slight injury (sounds more like doing a Philander to me) but him not giving Kamindu or Mathews a single over was what really did my head in.

With chances of rain on 4th and 5th day, maybe we should take the initiative now and increase the rr as much as possible

We made a lot of progress from early 2024 to mid 2024 but it seems to have been undone by poor selections and balance of the team , we need pace , we need 3 seamers and 2 spinners for home conditions..Debutant bowling the most overs not a great look

Mushfiq very lucky to survive that LBW appeal. Hopefully the rain ****s off soon.

Ah Jesus, don't tell me the one time in a bloody blue moon we put on a decent first innings score there's a chance of a washout

Think the umpire thought he edged it or something but it was mighty close and looked out to be fair

Hes playing well but got to go for runs now
