*Official* Australia Tour of West Indies 2025

Well Australia's fragile top 3 just became a fragile top 5 without Smith in the middle of it.

Khawaja has age catching up, Labuschagne has been a mediocre 30 averaging batsman for half his career and Green is the most nervous of starters. Then we have the very hit miss Head who despite his reputation has only averaged 34 in last 2 years.

19 year old kid Konstas will have to come in and save the day...

Smith's injury seems not as serious as it looked. Nevertheless Konstas should get a run from here. I think Usman is done at least against quality quicks. Not sure they'll drop him before the Ashes but I can not see him making a valuable contribution

Smith's injury still sounds pretty serious to me. From cricinfo:

"The wound was cleaned, stitched and the finger placed in a splint and it's understood he will be able to bat if he can tolerate doing so with the splint, which he will need to wear for up to eight weeks although the wound itself is expected to heal in around a fortnight"

So he'll definitely miss the 1st Test in 11 days as wound not healed and then why risk batting with a splint with the Ashes coming up. Fly in K'Pat or McSweeney instead

Cummins just quoted as saying it's time for a test reset and that guys that'll likely play the next WTC final should get a chance

Cue Konstas and Inglis getting a run in the 1st Test

Why on earth was Roach not in WIs test squad? And where the hell is Motie??
Yes I am shocked because it doesn't make any sense ..

Roach has taken 19 wickets in his last 6 tests @19.32 and he is the greatest West Indies fast bowler of the last 20 years there was no need for him to be dropped.

Motie had a tough 2024 yes but he still averages 27 with the ball in his Test career and can bat , surely he can atleast be in the squad as back up to Warrican

Agree with everything you said. At the very least, Roach brings control and experience. And he's exceptional at home.

Inglis has to be given the chance for a proper run

If it's good enough for Head to open when it suits his game then maybe it's time to bat him where the team needs him the most. Radical I know, but just until Smith is back.

1. Khawaja
2. Konstas
3. Head
4. Green
5. Inglis
6. Webster

Note: Head has averaged 33.27 at #5 over last 2 years so he shouldn't be a lock at #5 imo

This is the best alternative for a smithless top 6 I've seen suggested. The reasons against moving Head from 5 is because he was doing such a good job at 5, but he hasn't even been doing that lately. A move might do him good

I know this is because Doggett's just injured himself, but how... what do they see in him?

I'm worried with the reluctance of our selectors to make changes that we end up with guys missing out for ones less deserving once Starc and Haze retire.
Richardson is injured while Bartlett & Johnson are playing in America

Morris, O’Neill & McAndrew should also be ahead of him anyway but if they insist up picking an older guy, it should be Neser

Bartlett is fit, is 26 and has a CA contract?

But they pick the 33 year old uncontracted Abbott that takes 3 wpm @ 30 in FC cricket to be our 5th pace bowler....what are they thinking?
