Unfortunately, although Bedingham batted well and made valuable runs, because he enjoyed substantial luck playing and missing a lot early on against really good bowling on a difficult wicket, he really shouldn’t be in the team and the England bowlers will be rubbing their hands together #websterlogic

SA's innings is going to last longer than Australia's, but that period of just doing nothing is what's really hurt them.

Yeah but the way it behaved yesterday, they may have been nearly all out for less than this anyway if they threw wood. It’s not been easy, but they could have been more proactive to some extent last night for sure

Have to say, australia have outperformed my expectations here. I thought they were in trouble with only 200.

SAF have also under performed with the bat. The batting lineup is pretty dire when compared to prior great teams. Theres simply no test level talent in domestic cricket in SAF.

We might see them again next WTC as their bowling attack is top class.

The other key factor may well be the use of reviews. Bavuma ****ed up on Webster, but Cummins nicked Verreyne.

Unless Rabada bowls outstandingly, hard to see how this remains competitive.

My friend just woke up and asked me what's happening. I told him that South Africa have been batting like noobs.

Fair assessment or no?

Webster's footwork looked really iffy in that early period though. For a guy as tall as him, you'd think he would plonk down that front foot with more confidence but he was constantly being caught in that ripe zone for LB. Might not be a big deal in Australian conditions but he'll have a tough time against skiddier bowlers capable of late movement elsewhere.

Torn; I don't want to sit through a bad Aus batting effort, but I also don't want this to be one-sided enough to provoke more whinging about how South Africa didn't deserve to play this.

Why do they constantly go to this short **** whenever they ball at the tail? Rabada almost hit that for a six but got lucky here
