O Reilly is better than Barrington too
Yes based on rep and quality of sample.

But if comparing against Ambrose, you are are basically comparing similar rep and quality but one played only six series and the other played twenty five.

I made greater bowler because that allows tour games and FC career to come into play.

what O Reilly did in England is the equivalent of if a spinner kept touring Australia in 2000s and taking 25+ wickets each series, it's actually kind of absurd.

Ok but if that spinners played only six test series we wouldn't consider them level with Ambrose.

I'm completely fine with Ambrose>O Reilly, it's the Barry comparison that gets me annoyed
There is no comparison. O Reilly produced ATG level test performances. We don't have to guess how great he was at the highest level.

Not weighing in on the debate here but fun fact: Tiger played in every test between his debut and retirement. The only other players to do that within the same timespan - Bruce Mitchell, George Headley, Manny Martindale, CK Nayudu and Amar Singh. Hammond played 47/51 for England and Curly Page played 7/8 for New Zealand. (unsurprisingly missing the post-war one)

Headley and Pollock also didn’t face anything as strong bowling attack compared to the batting line up Tiger bowled too. O’Reilly bowled to absurdly strong English batting lineup and was head and shoulders above anything any bowler did in the decade. To add to that O’Reilly was also by far and away consensus wise the best bowler in the history alongside Barnes for decades after his retirement. He really was the one that challenged The Mighty S.F Barnes for his throne of being the best bowler to ever walk this planet.

O’Reilly gave Bradman more than a battle. Considering how good his performances against Bradman and that absurdly strong batting lineup was, O’Reilly would have tore majority of the batting lineup of modern era apart. Plus ofc the batting lineup of any team of his time had there been as many matches of now.

I think it was Hutton who put it perfectly if he was choosing an all time cricket team to fight Mars, Tiger would be the first name in his team sheet.

Perfect example of Unyielding strength, Relentless dedication imho. One bowler to bowl for my life, one game and I’m taking Bill O’Reilly.

You are asking this after Reading that !??? I am pretty sure he rates O'Reilly in his top 3-4 and is by far his favourite cricketer.
That is one of the best descriptions of O'Reilly that I've read. Drop anything close to that regarding Ambrose if you can.
