What current teams would you consider mid tier? I can think of a few teams that have the bowling but quite poor batting. There is no mid tier side that wouldn't benefit more from Hadlee than Sobers IMO.

Disagree. Sobers could be equal to (or even better than) the average bowlers in the team, while being almost equal as a batter to Hadlee the bowler. There are surely some mid teams that would benefit more from Sobers. There is no mid tier side that wouldn't benefit more from Hadlee than Sobers IMO.
The current NZ and SA teams would benefit more from Sobers. There is no mid tier side that wouldn't benefit more from Hadlee than Sobers IMO.
Sobers in NZ?The current NZ and SA teams would benefit more from Sobers.
SA clearly have an above average quality attack but point taken. The current NZ and SA teams would benefit more from Sobers.
Would also suggest India and West IndiesSA clearly have an above average quality attack but point taken.
India I wouldn't consider an average sideWould also suggest India and West Indies
Sobers is going to open the bowling in an average side. Hadlee isn't going to bat 4.There is no mid tier side that wouldn't benefit more from Hadlee than Sobers IMO.
With Hadlee in the 80s, NZ were a top tier team. You don't need only mid tier players to make an average team. Most average sides I'd say have 1 or 2 star outliers, and the rest is nothing special, with a genuinely weak player thrown in for good measure.
No, he's not. He'd only open for a side with no adequate seamersSobers is going to open the bowling in an average side.
Current NZ are weaker on seam bowling depth than batting depth tbh.
Hm.Currently the depth in pace bowling and in bowling allrounders in very high, while batting is very weak.
Like usual, we're both right.
Mitchell averages more awaySobers would be unstoppable in current New Zealand as the pitches gradually flatten out nowadays, and all the New Zealand bats have substantially higher home averages than away.
more to the contrary imo.Mitchell averages more away
