Can be. But there's one I will rate significantly higher than the other.
I'll take Lara's 132 in Perth in 96-97 over an entire series of making 50-55 in Australia but that doesn't mean Lara did not have consistency issues against top class pacers too.

I think personally it's fine to judge a literal 3 matches with an ATG innings.

It is ridiculous to say this guy wasn’t good. He scored centuries against the best, meanest and fastest of bowlers and that too as an opener.

Sunil Gavaskar’s centuries :

1. 1976 - Andy Roberts & Michael Holding
2. 1976 - Michael Holding
3. 1976 - Richard Hadlee
4. 1978 - Imran Khan
5. 1978 - Imran Khan
6. 1980 - Imran Khan
7. 1983 - Imran Khan
8. 1983 - Roberts, Holding, Marshall & Garner
9. 1983 - Marshall & Holding
10. 1983 - Marshall & Holding

Also:
1. 1974 - Bob Willis
2. 1977 - Bob Willis
3. 1977 - Jeff Thomson
4. 1977 - Jeff Thomson
5. 1977 - Jeff Thomson
6. 1978 - Sylvester Clarke
7. 1978 - Sylvester Clarke & young Marshall
8. 1978 - Sylvester Clarke
9. 1978 - Sylvester Clarke
10. 1979 - Bob Willis & Ian Botham
11. 1981 - Ian Botham
12. 1985 - Craig McDermott

anyway Lara hundreds against ATG pacemen

Glenn McGrath 1997
Glenn McGrath 1999
Glenn McGrath 1999
Glenn McGrath 1999
Glenn McGrath 2000
Glenn McGrath 2005
Shaun Pollock 2003
Shaun Pollock 2004

again, There's a clear pattern, I'll let people figure it out.

what Holding said was that Gavaskar was immovable on slow wickets but inconsistent on more pacer friendly wickets. Which is true, Gavaskar was better against high pacers than Lara but he wasn't necessarily better in pace friendly conditions.

Does have a couple of tons to Thomson in Perth and Adelaide, when it was really fast.

BTW could you provide some evidence that the hundreds of Gavaskar you provided weren't in relatively easy conditions? If you aren't doing that, you aren't actually proving anything.
BTW you know that we hardly take player's words over actual record, like Ever post WWI. And his Thomson tons were on some really fast tracks.
