against those bowlers

Steyn (56)
McGrath (42)
Shoaib (41)
Pollock (39)
Donald (32)
2 Ws (30)

fast bowlers, Ambrose I represented my problem with earlier. Overall his output against great bowlers is decent but not too dissimilar to the output that Lara had against most of the crew, and that was my point that in one way or another, the output against top level attacks is similar.
Ambrose is still a 5 test series, can't be ignored as a sample. Still bottomline good otherwise please ignore all of Sobers great series at home.

"Unofficial" Tests, and you've agreed the 1970 England series and 71 Australia is directly translateable to Tests.
70 Eng more and it was Gavaskar's 3rd Series overall.

He played 5 games against the Ws aged 16 and in context his record to McGrath is quite Great

It's really strange seeing nitpicks like this because Tendulkar legit played those bowlers very well and his 99 and 2001 series helped to cement his reputation and now it's being called decent.

Also played a legit top tier ATG innings in one of the other 2 matches...... Only Donald among these is a fair criticism and that too he had a very Good ton in each of his 3 match SA tours

That's alright, It was Lillee's second.

I only took late 90s-early 2000s variant, You really think you can catch me slacking?
Then isn't that average over 2 matches even Worse representation of the true story?

And yeah, it was Lillee's 2nd and he did Good. Bravo.

The only motif behind these stats is to make Root look better than Smith vs ATG bowlers......
