No. Henry, Duffy, Sears, Ferguson, Foulkes, WOR, even KJ,

plus our spinners...
Yeah, nah. Boult still makes my top NZ side across all formats all other things equal.

It's unrealistic but If I was picking for the 4 Test series in Australia in 18 months, he'd make my 4-prong pace attack along with Henry, O'Rourke & Jamieson (with Sears next cab). Yes we have some good bowling options atm, all except for the left arm pace variation.

Last season CSK were being called the ‘Chennai Super Kiwis’ with the squad including Ravindra, Conway, Santner, and Mitchell & the coach being Stephen Fleming. Next season the NZ factor might be entirely absent as I’m picking Fleming will be dumped as coach after this years debacle of a campaign.
Santner was released after the 2024 season after 5 seasons with CSK.
Daryl Mitchell flopped hard last year and was dumped for this season.
Rachin Ravindra has also been dropped after not succeeding in the ‘T20 dasher’ role that CSK envisaged he’d play. His scores this year have ranged between poor and middling. He seems more suited to longer form cricket where he can build an innings at a more sedate pace than what frenetic T20 cricket demands.
Devon Conway has gone from CSK gun to being on the outer. His form for NZ has seriously declined over recent seasons, but he seems to have been treated pretty shabbily by CSK this year having been ‘retired out’ after scoring 69 off 49 balls while trying to hold a big run chase together. He’s only played 3 matches this season and has seemingly become a victim of the increasing panic at CSK as players are tried and then quickly discarded as the franchise searches in vain for a winning combination.

Whatever it takes!!!
CSK had a decent enough auction IMO. I think they failed when Fleming (from how it looks outside) seems to have stupidly stuck to his guns about Ruturaj being a #3 for whatever reason. They did this last season as well when they carried an injured Rahane and had him open so he had to run less batting in the powerplay.

Conway-Gaikwad is a thing that was not broken that they needlessly tried to fix. Tripathi had whatever success he has had in IPL batting at #3 often enough and Hooda/Shankar were decent enough at 4/5 in the last couple of seasons. CSK needlessly messing with the openers (also seems Conway lost his father during this IPL, RIP, but I am sure that may have played on his mental state so far this season), and then the 3 guys they picked in the auction for the MO all flopping hard has put them on the brink. Added to this has been their shocking fielding. I am still positive they would have won the 3 games they dropped crucial catches in (RCB, RR and PBKS). They have also had pretty bad luck with the toss in the last 6 games or so. But I think Mhatre and Brevis are good additions and it will definitely help them setup next season.

It is also well deserved for the corrupt TNCA and the way they have been handling CSK match tickets etc. There are so many bandwagoners since 2023 that it is not funny and the actual fans hardly get a ticket available online to even buy. Those ****ers definitely deserve this.

None of this changes the fact that CSK have by far been the best franchise and best team in the IPL. This is something I said even in 2020 and I will back them now too. There is not a single team in this IPL that can withstand the effect of their best Indian batsman not being available after 3 games. Fleming and MSD need to let go of some of their ideas and simply go for the tried and tested methods for the rest of the games.

Conway
Mhatre
Brevis
Jadeja
Dube
Hooda/Shankar
MSD
Ashwin
Kambhoj
Noor
Khaleel
Ellis

This side would give them at least 4 proper PP bowling options (the 3 seamers + Ashwin) and Noor can also bowl the odd over in the powerplay. It helps them balance out the middle overs between the 3 spinners and they can groom Kambhoj to be a slog overs bowler as well.

They have unleashed some quality youngsters this season. I love Mhatre. That kid will go far…Baby AB needs to be his own dynamic player…and Noor and Pathirana within their bowling attack is something else. They have the components for a championship team, but unfortunately things didn’t click this year for them.

Khaleel has bowled well but the way CSK is set up they badly need their PP bowler to be a bit capable with the bat and to be able to bowl at least 2 overs at the death and be a good fielder. Unfortunately, Khaleel is absolutely useless on a cricket field outside of bowling with the new ball. They definitely need a better bowler in that role next year. I was surprised they did not go hard for someone like Marco Jansen who would have fit the bill perfectly.

Pandya and David take the plaudits but VK marshalled his side to victory again after a wobble at the start. We can argue about SR but he got it done again.

With IPL matches per season keeps increasing
Now we will see majority of batsman will struggle to average 30+ in test cricket.

Currently so many struggling to average 40+ in test because of this **** T20 format .

IPL= blind slogging league.
