non existentOne weakness in Root's resume is his record in Australia. When you limit to wins, what does his record in Australia look like? Do you know?
So now you see?non existent
Ah I forgot how matchwinning doesn’t have anything to do with performance in wins.I didn't say 'with style'
And I never brought performance in wins.
My friend, I don't believe 'matchwinning' should generally be used in reference to a bat. I have explained.Ah I forgot how matchwinning doesn’t have anything to do with performance in wins.
The delusion here is strong.Viv was more destructive and he didn't have the big bats and shorter boundaries plus he played most of his peak cricket before helmets were widely used. Funny this resurfaces when Smith is bashing a minnow attack. What would Viv have done to these rubbish bowlers.?
Bigger bats, helmets and shorter boundaries are an actual thing and not some fantasy. The delusion here is strong.
Hence Marshall and Imran can't even be compared with Bumrah and Cummins. I mean, they couldn't deal with those players without helmets, good bats and longer boundaries better, then they would stand no chance now.Bigger bats, helmets and shorter boundaries are an actual thing and not some fantasy.
Bigger bats, helmets and short boundaries are meaningless if you face prime Ashwin and Jadeja on rank turners.Bigger bats, helmets and shorter boundaries are an actual thing and not some fantasy.
My point is that we can recognize advantages and disadvantages of certain modern eras while still arguing for parity for the sake of comparison.Hence Marshall and Imran can't even be compared with Bumrah and Cummins. Yeah he has too much lost ground to make up.Smith doesn't have enough of a stats advantage removing the hopeless Windies attack to win this, I'm sorry.
This thread is about his peak anyway. People can go talk about his late career, his record against ****ing Bumrah and Joe Root's career elsewhere.Damn you Smith, why won't you decline?!
Which accounts for how much cricket in a non-Indian cricketers career?Bigger bats, helmets and short boundaries are meaningless if you face prime Ashwin and Jadeja on rank turners.
That helmets and bats and whatnot is reasonable to think would improve them. But while comparing across Eras, we literally see no improvement in standard of batting with their implementation into the game. So basically, this whole argument with the finishing words "Viv would eat this SL attack for lunch" (do think this innings is getting overrated by some), reeks off toxic nostalgia and is pretty pointless really. My point is that we can recognize advantages and disadvantages of certain modern eras while still arguing for parity for the sake of comparison.
What's your point?
Viv averaged 70 plus on tougher wickets and against Thommo, Lillee, Imran, peak Botham and the Indian spin quartet with a crazy SR for his era. This thread is about his peak anyway. People can go talk about his late career, his record against ****ing Bumrah and Joe Root's career elsewhere.
'Toxic nostalgia' lol get off your soapboxThat helmets and bats and whatnot is reasonable to think would improve them.
