Clarke's RPI away from home is 35.6 while for Chanders minus Ban it's 37.3, needless to say, I'm not impressed. Clarke was far superior at playing with tail, had a far wider range of gears and was also good at taking the matches away from sides unlike Chanders
iirc that’s called far superior at getting out before your tailenders and thus not maximizing the runs your team could have made.

Chanderpaul one of the most underrated batters of the last 20-30 years imo (despite generally being rated pretty highly by most people).
are you ****ing kidding me? Chanders is worse than Hussey
ngl, even Pujara is better than Chanderpaul, I don't think he can be a lot better than Hussey
Great job proving sledger’s point.

Getting out trying to maximize the amount of runs your team makes is a lot more respectable than getting the red ink after convineantly failing to rotate strikes, the prior could actually win your games, the latter would give you pretty averages.

If one person's opinion makes someone underrated then sure ig, I'm not gonna change my opinion for it.

Clarke away from home is a weird one. Underwhelming overall overseas average for the era he played in but he was solid in most places.

Rubbish, it would always be purely situational. West Indies being well behind (which they typically were) would always mean that the only real impact that could occur is if the tail managed to stick around and form a partnership with him.

Ah, I get it, I'm being too harsh to poor Shiv by expecting a bitch who hides at 5 and 6 to actually know how to play with the tail? I get it, maybe I should judge him based on his performance in top 4.

What did he do to you? Just curious

Over his career - West Indian batsman in positions 8-11 had significantly the worst average of all nations.

If we are extra charitable and say Chanderpaul stole 19 not outs from them by not 'selflessly' throwing his wicket away (because apparently thats the only way to bat). Then we would have them average... 12.21

Still comfortably the worst. Chanderpaul was the shepherd of spuds, played for a rubbish team and scored as many runs as he could. He was an accumulator and a partnership builder. He was crap at the top of the order against a new ball and was an extremely prolific middle order nurdler.
