Actually I'll take Imran over Kapil. Kapil never had any period like late career Imran as a bat. And we're only talking about them as batsmen, not as "batting allrounders" throughout career or whatever, so I'll take Imran as a better bat.

Kapil was like the Viv Richards type among bowling all rounders with that high strike rate in Tests. Imran was technically more solid but his batting avg is as inflated or even more as Jadeja's batting average is.

Averaging 40 opening and 40 at #8 are vastly different but there's a reason Imran averaged more than Kapil despite playing in similar positions. Kapil had a higher ceiling but he was a lot less consistent.
