Aus XI india tour?

I wouldn't pick Swepson as he's looked awful whenever I've seen him. Qld haven't played Kuhnemann and his action looks suspect anyway. Unless you want to pick someone like Zampa, Dooley or Hatzoglou out of bbl then the best option is Murphy. If you don't mind picking another off spinner then I'd put Ben Manenti against him above Rocchiccioli. Manenti can bat and that is a nice accessory for the 5th bowling option.

I don't mind playing 2 off spinners as we have that situation now whenever we turn to Travis as an option. It would just mean Manenti would get the overs instead.

I'm not sure we'll need Murphy as he is a specialist spinner and Lyon fills that spot. I'd pick Manenti and Agar for India.

Edit.

actually I’d pick Chris green
Chris Green has played 2 FC matches.

Agar, despite his mediocre bowling record, still has 60 FC games and 3 x FC tons behind him at an average of almost 30.

Im firmly in the Murphy camp and use Head as the third spinner, who bowled really well this summer.

If we need to crack a right hander on a turner, bowl Marnus.

I think Head might have a similar series with the ball coming up to Clarke all those years ago.

Warner
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Renshaw
Carey
Green
Cummins
Lyon
Murphy

Would be my lineup.

he actually played 3 but one was a match that we don't talk about and should be removed from the records

yeah you know who else had two FC matches before they played for Australia?

Pat Cummins
The Murphy situation is similar to Cummins where you have a young bowler that looks the standard. Multiple players are saying he's the best spinner in the country at the moment outside of Lyon.

I don't hear the same chatter about Chris Green tbh.

It's literally all I chat about

also we can just drop lyon for murphy anyway

Look thunder green has bowled well this year. He’s skiddy and got some variations that just might be suitable for India. If you haven’t considered him then think who he’s up against. He’s gotta be better than swepson and Agar’s track record shows we should still be searching. I think his bowling is different enough to Lyon’s style and probably ok for India.

I’ve been thinking he should be considered but didn’t mention it until I saw spike suggest him. I thought it could be a piss take but now looks he’s serious. Anyway given the alternatives he’s got a pretty good case.

I guess if Green had also taken 29 wickets and been the leading wicket taker in the Sheffield Shield during his games the conversation might be similar...
you’re right. He only has 12 in 2 matches at a much better average plus a ton more experience.

Is my ideal side.

With Head bowling 10+ overs an innings also.

None of the left armers are better than Murphy and having two right handed offspiners.

Picking a far inferior spinner because they turn the ball a certain way is a really dumb trap to fall into. If your 2 best spinners are both offies, pick them. It will work out better.

Now if you have a few all of a similar level then sure look for a variety but it doesn't look like that's the case

And tbf if Chris Green could put a ball up a bloke's nostril at 145 clicks I'd say pick him
His competition is Agar so really Green just needs to have a head of hair to get picked tbh

chucking one at Kohli's head is an added bonus

If Starc's fit he will be playing so you can probably forget Renshaw at six.

Genuinely more worried about Travis Head than whoever you guys are discussing.

I’d just pick Agar tbh, if it’s a slow wicket they’ll all likely be useless but Agar may come good with the bat. If it’s a crumbling one then he’ll be fine.
