He had 150 runs in his other 7 T20 innings since April. In a team that has simply way too many all-rounders it's entirely reasonable to look at Stoinis particularly if you take the view (that many of us do) that MMarsh is better and Maxwell is above him as well. (And I wouldn't had dropped him for Green for those same reasons)

That was some hitting from Big Boinis. Reminder of what he can do, I didn't expect it. Looks leaner than I've seen him before too might even be sub 10% bodyfat.

As bad as Finch was have to respect his effort, can't be easy for him to be going through this. Wonder if there's a chance of him dropping himself mid tournament, looks fed up with it. Smith for Finch and Green for Cummins makes this side look a hell of a lot stronger all of a sudden.
Not sure why you are so rooted on Smith. Smith will do the same thing and then you will say he held one end well :) Steve Smith and Cummins are test greats but they should focus on that and leave t20 alone.

Smith isn't an amazing T20 bat but he's absolutely not sub-80 SR bad.

150 runs in 7 innings at a sr of 150+ and wickets at 24 in the same period is his bad patch and were complaining? Any other team in the world would kill for a player producing those kind of numbers. Since march 2021 maxy is averaging 16 with the bat and 41 with the ball over 24 games, and smith has been dog**** at domestic and international level in t20's since the 2020 IPL. Stoinis has never been the issue with this team, neither has david. The issue is that warner/marsh aren't making enough runs to mitigate Finch anymore, and our bowling is absolutely horrid bar hazlewood and zampa.

Sensible post. I like it.

You couldn't be more wrong. Smith would be orders of magnitude better than Finch. He's also an incredible fielder whereas Finch can barely move. That one change would make the team so much stronger.

Good points. Stoinis deserves more slack. I rate him harshly sometimes because he has a terrible defense, or virtually any shot than isn't a slog, and he looks so awful sometimes. But his output has been fine and deserves his spot, you're right. Shouldn't be around the ODI set-up though

Nah he's not going to bowl him anymore. There's Theekshana, 2 overs from the main quicks and 1 from Shanaka/DDS. Not that it'll go into the final over.
Felt like it was Rashid Khan getting clobbered all over the place by Morgan at Edgbaston (?), WC 19

Finch is a lucky man. Would get slaughtered in the press if stonis doesn't play that innings. Could have easily cost his team the game and the wc.

Worst pitch in the world for SL's spinners. No purchase and the slightest error in length lets someone like Stoinis or Maxwell hit it wherever they want
Massive error of judgement by Shanaka. Should have let Kumara finish his spell. He was threatening, if not wickets, that of health of batsmen. Who knows could have shaken up another batman like Maxwell.

Got to be 100% questioning Shanaka's captaincy
Even if you're a bowler short you shouldn't go back to a guy who's bowled 2 overs for 34
And using DDS to bowl that single ball. Should have been himself. DDS don't rely on turn to bowl. He is one of those spinners who has the ball on a thread. SL lost to Namibia and in the game DDS has not bowled. Here only 2.1 overs.
