Arun Finch stepping down from ODIs

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Great career. In his prime he was belligerent and intimidating.

Whatever it takes!!!
Well done on a wonderful career. Hope this frees him up to make some runs in his last game. Been a very vital cog in the wheel and a very important member to help Australia get back to WC winning ways in the white ball formats.

Was a world class LO batsman. Loved watching him bat. Paced his innings to perfection.

An underrated odi great 2 World cups is just reward. In fact the Austrailan LOI team from 2013-2022 is one of the underrated odi sides in the game history when they all played together there were very good.

Yeah they but got thrashed by England in important games. In a similar way NZ gets thrashed by Australia.

I admit to not refrains them as a vintage Aus side too. Don’t especially rate the 2015 WC winning side especially highly, but you’re right their output was great.

i think the dilution of ODIs as T20s became prevalent has meant a lot more players missed a lot more ODIs. And Aus was pretty notorious for mixing it up between WCs even before that was a thing

Cricketer Of The Year
Reckon he was a bit hard done by as a test cricketer. Had the potential to be a 35-40 average middle order bat and take the captaincy after sandpaper gate but the selectors randomly decided to have him open instead.

Entire selection process in that period was just odd. Mitch marsh at 4, finch opening, uzzie being moved down after Pak to accommodate Harris, marnus random getting a few tests at 3 before his Glamorgan god mode activated, Maxwell not getting a game despite being the best shield batsmen going around at the time.
