Australian domestic season 2021/22

Despite my username I'm actually a Pom.
I see the domestic season starts next week, and I'm entering the fantasy cricket contests
Someone be good enough to tell which teams in the 4 day and 1 day normally dominate and who are the weak teams?

Anyone got any sleeper players to look out for ?

How many overseas players are you allowed ? It's very rare I notice for you to take any

NSW: at full strength they have pretty much most of the Australian team, but generally those guys only play a bit at either end of the season. Bowling depth remains strong anyway, but the batting depth mainly consists of inconsistent/unproven youngsters, so that can be really patchy

QLD: probably the best rounded team in the competition at this stage. Batting can be a touch hit and miss, especially at home on a Gabba deck that can do a fair bit (wish the curators would prepare those sort of picthes for Tests imo), bowling attack is generally class though

SA: An absolute basket case, and have been for years. Getting Dizzy as coach is quite the coup, but it remains to be seen if he can do anything to improve the situation. Other problems like bloated and bureaucratic administration and a paucity of depth at a local level remain

TAS: a bit of a mixed bag really. The batting lineup can be seriously patchy (sensing a theme here?) but they have a bowling attack that is lethal on their day, especially considering they have probably the most english climate of any of the teams

VIC: generally always pretty strong, not so much last year. They benefit from having a lot of players, especially in batting, who fall into that hinterland of being fine domestic cricketers but just a bit short of international standard. Bowling attack definitely has a more youthful feel to it than 18-24 months ago, couple of young quicks I am keeping my eye on there

WA: always looked to have a pretty strong list in theory, but by and large that hasn't translated into major success. Have a good array of bowlers at their disposal, just a shame at least half of them are almost certainly injured at any given time

Hope that is at least vaugely helpful

So far it looks like SA's bowling attack is just as (im)penetrative as last year.
Early signs certainly aren't too encouraging, although with the KRO deck having a tendency to play like a slab of bitumen from the adjacent West Terrace I am not jumping to any conclusions yet

Good to see cameron green has switched from specialist batsmen to #8 during the off-season. Kid's an extremely talented LOI bat but WA just refuse to let him play up the order. Made 140 in his first knock up the order, so they randomly through him down to 6 for the rest of the season, and now ashton ****ing agar is batting ahead of him.

Is this on Kayo?

Also good to see Gibbo getting a game for SA, though their side looks pretty average overall. Again.

I think its more a case of how late in the innings it was when the Philippe-MMarsh partnership was broken, the logic from WA likely was that they thought Green was less adept at hitting out from ball one

Clearly that logic looks faulty now that he finished off with 13* (5), but it seems more a case of WA trying to be too clever with their order rather not rating Green.

And now the weather has gone kaput

He was listed at 4 or 5 on the original team list but because of the 200+ partnership he slid behind better hitters which was probably fair enough. Agar coming in ahead of him was dumb though.

Can't imagine this drizzle will hang around too long. Although from where I am I would be surprised if there wasn't more on the way later

Drainage is generelly pretty damn good

Other than Agar it's perfectly reasonable why Green slid behind all the others
Yeah Agar was dumb but given the others he slid below were Inglis, Turner and Short in the 12 overs I think that part was fine. I expect to see him up at 4-5 in the other games.

Yes McSweeney's offerings looked very pedestrian. They treated him with far too much respect. Having said that it's exactly the type of filthy finger spin bowling that would take 30 wickets (28 of them caught) in a season of club cricket and win someone the club champion award, I've seen it happen

Looked pretty accurate if nothing else when I saw him bowl a lengthy spell in the Shield last season. Filthy though.
