NZ Qualify for Lord's World Test Championship Final

Outstanding news to wake up to. This is one of the things that BC management was working at behind the scene. They were clear this was a priority. Awesome to see we have qualified. This makes Kane our best ever captain. Somehow if we can get to the T20 WC finals as well that'll be unbelievable.

Whom would I rather face in the finals? India. We will have much better chance facing India in England than England in England. Cheering for India now vs England.

How excited am I allowed to get if we win? I'm struggling to pin it down. It's not like an ODI World Cup that I've wanted us to win my whole life, and the whole thing has obviously been compromised by COVID - but I still feel like I can get pretty pumped up, possibly naked, 2-to-4 day bender sorta territory if we win?

I'd treat it like an ODI World Cup (that was deeply affected by a global Pandemic where we qualified somewhat jammily)

I wouldn't care covid or what not... you still have to win heaps to make the finals as the Aussies have just found out. Did you guys know if Aussies weren't docked points for slow over rate they would have been ahead of Black Caps even if they didn't tour South Africa? You can expect few experts and writers cry over this.

I think making the ODI WC finals stands us in good stead, our making the WTC finals will not be called fluke or by luck.

What's the probability of the Lord's WTC Final going ahead given Covid? Given Australia pulling out of the South Africa tour, I wonder whether the NZ Government and NZC will say no also in travelling to the UK. Realise it's still 4 months away, but Covid isn't going away anytime soon.

South Africa isn't as profitable of a tour as England/India, and Australia have a history of shunning teams outside the big 3, so I'm not convinced them pulling out was entirely covid-related.

Given a series win would have seen them qualify for the WTC Final, I would have thought it's solely Covid related?

BC quite fortunate to be in the final given that Aus would have been ahead if they had not been penalised 4 points for slow over rate. Also very fortunate in terms of the draw, not playing teams like England and South Africa. But did well against the teams they faced.

Beat England last two tours (2017/18 and 2019/20) and got no WTC credit for it, what more do you want

England managed to host 2 full home test series in 2020. I don't think risk will be significantly higher in England in 2021.

Australia probably should have won more Tests if they wanted to qualify
