Is MS Dhoni an ATG OdI batsmen?

Whatever it takes!!!
Nah, Ganguly's right. Dhoni's never been particularly good at t20s.
I know it's old news but Ganguly's comments about Dhoni not being good at T20s because he only has one 50 in 10 years are stupid af am i right?

He bats at no. 5 or 6 where you don't get many chances to make 50s, and averages 36 which is huge for T20s

Ganguly's given reason is debatable, and rightly so, but Dhoni really is nowhere near great in T20s. He's fine but there have been many better.

MSD is not great at Intl T20s but I think overall as a T20 player, he is very good. And if I am not wrong, Ganguly actually said MSD Is not a "good" T20 player. Not great does not mean he is not good, AFAIC.

The game was just about even when he came in at 3-114 in the final, and he hammered them. Along with Gambir hammered Sri Lanka's bowlers. It was a superb knock. His hair cut around 2007 was one of the worst in world cricket of all time. And that includes Funky Millers haircuts.

5000 runs at 37 at a SR of 135 in domestic T20s. He's talking out of his ass tbh.
He has had a chip on his shoulder when it comes to talking about MS for a while now. And he seems to be the kind of guy who will absolutely HATE anyone who becomes better than him in the things he thinks he is great at.

Nope, people being too harsh on Ganguly here, MSD has 0 MoMs in T20s after having played 60 games, and while he has played some OK to good innings , I don't recall him ever making a huge difference in the match.

He made more of a difference than Sachin ever did, mate. And since when is MoMs the definitive indicator of impact of a player on a game?

Ganguly has repeatedly called MSD the greatest Indian captain ever, when there's actually a case for Ganguly as well.

He averages 36.63 in international T20s. That's huge compared to almost all specialist batsmen.

His SR isn't incredible but it's solid. Unless he's been responsible for single-handedly losing more than a few games through slow batting (which might be true I don't know) then he's a pretty good player.

And that's just his batting.

Links? I remember he was quite reasonable about him as long as he was just a commentator but since he got into the BCCI, the tone has been remarkably different.

Why is the discussion now about international T20s? We are talking abt all T20s here.
No one's ever claimed Sachin to be a great T20 player, he was good (and at times average) but that's it, "making more difference than Sachin" in T20s is a fairly useless criterion. Dhoni's strike rate is fairly poor for someone who comes in at 6, his need to see of a few balls at the start, which doesn't hamper anyone in ODIs really drags him down in T20s, it is a fact and is there for everyone to see.
