How good does Nathan Smith look with bat and ball? Easily slower than the rest, but he's only 18! Big future for this lad hopefully. Finnie was also coming good before injury.
Looks great, just hope the injuries stay away. On a similar note, Josh Clarkson is out for back surgery.

Walker looks quality. Nice to see Fraser Colson getting some runs at number 3 for Wellington. He did well last season, but had to make way for the returning Marshall. Randall likes quite lively from the video scorecard.

That's frustrating to hear that Clarkson has needed back surgery. I thought Leopard might have featured for CD by now. I hyped him up massively a couple of years ago so am going to stick with him.

If he keeps up this form, he'll get a chance.

While I'm still very sceptical that Munro will do well at test level, if we're talking Colins I think NZ called up the wrong one for the Pakistan series.

Disappointing to see Nuttall get tonked around on his FC return. His only wicket came from a nothing delivery too.

I think he'll go down in that Sincas & Harry class of player who dominate the domestics but are all at sea when they get to internationals. The inbetweeners.

Howsie, what do you mean when you call Kane conservative? Doesn't like expensive bowlers?
He doesn't rate Sodhi, that much is obvious. He's been in and out of the team a lot more since Williamson took over the captaincy and when he plays he's given a really, really short leash. imo Williamson really doesn't seem to have much time for him at all.

He'd much perfer the Santner type spinner, keep the runs down, bat, field well etc. Now Santner isn't a test match bowlers asshole but if he can do that job there is a spot for him in a Williamson lead side.

I've pushed Manu's barrow for a long time, but I don't believe he'll get a chance - even if he did average 91 for the rest of his days. Nicholls just earned the next year in whites barring outrageous failure (and fair on that knock), 4 is too high for Manu at Test level and 6 is the all-rounder spot - for which Manu's bowling probably isn't good enough. So he's five or nothing. Which at the moment is Nicholls, or Will Young if he kicks on with the recent discovery of how to score tons.

My issue, again, is how NZC see domestic cricket. If domestic cricket is a completely unrealistic proving ground, as they exhibited by not picking Manu for even the wider squad - instead going to Brownlie - it would mean we need NZ A cricket and aren't getting it. How is anyone pushing their case? At least Nicholls had scores v Sri Lanka A to build his. Schedule some A cricket for ****'s sake. Then if Manu scores no runs there, you have a readymade reason for not picking him. And you figure out who from Young, Cleaver, Blundell, even Phillips etc are ready.

In other news, someone needs to tell Todd Astle to stop appealing like a sub-continent player. Yuck appeal v Bruce (and yuck decision too).

Nice drift. The swerve Tastle and Ajaz get through the air, collects domestix like moths to a flame.

Don't get me wrong; a late season pitch at Saxton Oval, Young will be alright. But will he lament on tours with Latham, how the faster clays bite.
