A different kind of test cricket DRAFT

is this program something you can just find online on a site and you just key in the player's names? Or do you have to download stuff and tinker with **** and have to know **** about computers?

Because I'd love to run a similar draft/simulation thing the same concept as this but with ODI teams

Me too. When I was young, my friend had some test match simulator on his commodore 64. We wasted a hell of a lot of time just watching the text roll by and appreciating certain players much more than deserved purely on their sim performances. I think I remember Waugh making many hundreds (this was before he had that 'real' break through in England).

I could quite enjoy sitting in my pool this summer listening to the commentary run through a text to speech engine. Kind of like listening to Steven Hawkins calling a test match.

In VC4 editing is mostly pretty straightforward. Not quite as straightforward as keying in the player names (you need to know stuff like economy rates and strike rates, and there is a required format to follow, which should be in the help manual) but it's hardly as difficult as editing say ICC (which in fairness there's a lot of walkthroughs to help you).

Warning though - VC4 is a FC sim with a OD program tacked onto it and accordingly it's not super realistic (add that ODI's have changed a ****load in the last 15 years and...) There aren't really any better sims though...

yeah I was just thinking the teams I had in mind ('02 NZ gives me Bond and McCullum plus Harris, Cairns, Fleming, McMillian, Astle, Styris and of course Vettori - would be an interesting little team) would still get decimated by any post 2010 team due the rapid increase in strike rates

I think England 1930 vs England 1955 would have been very interesting, '30 just has us beat in the batting and we just have them beat in the bowling

So FC runs, average etc is taken into account where available? In that case Raja out, Mujtaba in

Nah more in the sense of that it's at its most optimal when it sims FC/Test matches, I'm pretty sure the averages inputted are still Test ones. It isn't ICC, for example.

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
West Indies 1958 can get you

Conrad Hunte
Everton Weekes
Clyde Walcott
Frank Worrell
Gary Sobers
Rohan Kanhai
Basil Butcher
Collie Smith

as batsman and

Wes Hall
Roy Gilchrist
Alf Valentine
Lance Gibbs
Sonny Ramadhin

as bowlers

you dial it back to '54 and you get Headley but lose the pacemen, Gibbs and Kanhai.

you push it forward to '59 and you lose Weekes but get Seymor Nurse and a third quick in Charlie Griffiths

WI '58 could definitely whoop the butts of both Pak 92 and SA 04 IMO
