**Official** Ponting Tribute Thread

Point is, this wasnt even a retirement thread initially... A thread called "ponting retires" would obviously invite polarizing opinions
Nah, look I think it's best to just drop it mate. It's a retirement thread, and it's plain as day that criticizing the player in an aggressive manner is just going to get reactions and derail the whole thing. Just walk away and spare it for another time/thread.

Basically this is the cricket equivalent of respecting the umpires decision when it goes against you.

This isn't the "Ponting Tribute Thread Discussion Thread" either, guys. Keep it on topic. Leave a tribute, or don't post.

If you want to make borderline troll posts about how much you hated the guy or argue about him then there are other Ponting threads around for you to do that.

If you have an issue with the moderation here - including but not limited to this post - then email the mods, or start a thread in SD.

Any posts fit into either of those two categories will be copping eight point infractions from here on.

im on the fence on this-

if you only saw the title and posted then you have a point in saying that his critics would express what they didn't like about him.

if you read the other posts, then you would realize that it is actually a tribute thread.
It's not as if there was a problem with people saying that he wasn't their favourite player or they didn't like them. Plenty of people have done that in this thread without issue.

It's the "good riddance" type posts which are really just not on. They'll simply rile people up and sour the one chance people get to post in this manner about him.

EDIT: Well ****

 @ the idea that SRT will retire.

Will play til he's 60, and by then Burgey will be around 120 years old and so the SRT retirement thread will be free from most of the trolling.

I'll still be trolling at 120. As if I'll retire

So anyways back on topic, just spent a good part of the journey back home today watching youtube videos of him. So entertaining.

Think he could have been ranked as high as Lara, but he grassed his chance by choosing to mentor Clarke and playing the role of an experienced figure in the side, unfortunately falling away in his last few years.

Sorry I did not see then post from pews. Browsing while moving in car from far off areas where network keeps dropping off. Hence the long delay to make that point.
