Incidently, that list tells me that perhaps Thomson is under-rated after all, and that Dougie Bollinger should feel ripped off about Mitchell Johnson being the preferred left-armer for too many years.

Bollinger should have been in the Australian side and Johnson his back-up, not the other way around.

And Stuart Clark was dropped way too soon.

thats an interesting list watto,

bollinger and harris outliers as they probably got picked only at the peak of their powers

mcgrath way ahead (positional anyway, would be good to add the numbers) than others in similar era

10 of em lee to hughes contemporaries, all guns, all different

Can I safely assume that the voting is finished?
Apparently so.

I'm not sure which is the better and more accurate thing to do;

Choose the individual bowlers with the most votes. or choose the most commonly nominated four bowler attack.

You can throw a blanket over Whitty to Thomson as well - only 1 point seperating them.

Individual votes is the best way to go about it.

The vote should be for the original bowlers, but I think for tie-breakers we could have a new vote on which four bowler attack is better.

We moving on to another country soonish??

Was thinking about the choice to pick Miller to fit in two spinners...

The thought came to me, if Watson had have been available and playing earlier would Australia have chose to regularly play MacGill and Warne in every test.
Would McGrath, Gillespie/Lee, Warne, MacGill, Watson

Been a better balance then

McGrath, Gillespie, Lee, Warne and whatever part timer (eg Lehmann, Clarke)

I think they would still only have picked the 2 spinners on real turners.

Gillespie was definitely a better bowler than MacGill though, and for a period so was Lee. It's only a valid comparison if you think MacGill was one of the best four bowlers available. To be fair I think he was for at least part of his of his career, and for that part - yes I would've picked him if Watson was already in the top six.

Ridiculous.

Post who you think should be skipper. Obvious choices are Bradman, Chappell or Border. Maybe Miller?

I think we'll do England's XI next....

Bradman for captain.

How are we deciding in what order we are selecting the teams, and if we use one standard for the Australian team I think that should be the standard for all of them in the interest of transparentcy.
Really surprised we selected the same team as cricinfo, would have thought either one of Simpson, Ponting, Harvey, Lindwall or Davidson would have made the team. Personally belive that Simpson brings so much value to a team that he should have been a certainty.

I've decided to use the same system....agree with you about that.

I'd like to see Adam Gilchrist as Captain.

Bradman and Border too grumpy. Chappell too under-arm. And Miller, too Miller.
