Rogers scored 222 and 42 in his last first class match, his on 149* this match, he has to be up for the openers spot this Australian summer surely.

Fair dinkum that SA bowling lineup isnt first class level.

Vics could rattle off another 8 bowlers before picking any of those guys.

Some tough lessons for young George and Haberfield today. The bowlers could not stop delivering up a four ball every over.

Brilliant batting by the seasoned Victorians. Hodge has a supurb record at the Adelaide Oval. Might be a shoot out between Hodge and Rogers this year for who can score the most runs and not be selected by Australia.

Rogers was hitting the cover off it early doors in Premier Cricket. Was looking amazing, no surprises to see him scoring runs.

What a dog of a day at the cricket :( If the game plan was to test how many times Hodge could cover drive a half volley, i think we got the answer!

Rogers would be dissapointed, he seemed to lose momentum at 140 odd (tea break), Hodge had it all to easy, not sure if a ball beat the bat all day (Probably only one to D hussey, who did the right thing and gave his wicket away the next ball :p) . Hodge's only junk shot was on 80 from Cooper's last over before tea. Played a couple dodge shots lucky not to be caught from a thickish top edge during the over.

We needed Cosgrove -

Real lack of depth in SA's bowling squad. That said, it's weird that the bowlers from a premiership winning side two years in a row (Woodville) were ignored. Kane Richardson and Chadd Sayers are in the Redbacks Squad, after all. Think I remember someone telling me Sayers was injured, though...

Bailey keeps getting pumped over his head for 4/6. From the bowling highlights I've seen, this match might encourage him to push them through a little bit harder because he's really just floating them up there.

I believe sayers is no longer in the squad, richardson is though. Why would saca pick blokes who perform in grade cricket...

Even though this is a average WA batting line up. This is massive effect from this inexperienced NSW attack. Liking the look of Starc and Crockley here.

Good to see Manly boy O'Keefe bowling well. Looks like he just needed some help from some average former NSW spinners to help him along. Hopefully he barely plays a game for NSW this season once the main players are back. We might win some matches with him and Crossy this season.

Heh, Doran has been promoted, from a specialist no.11 to specialist no.10.....

Wishing I could be there watching though :( It's been a while since QLD has had a couple of young genuine bowling prospects

Much better knock by Smith just a shame he couldn't go on. Hastings bowling a McDonald like spell atm. 6 overs for 6 runs.

I had a very relaxing, enjoyable day at the GABBA today.

Couldn't believe Bailey opted to bat first in typical tough first day batting conditions in Brisbane.

First up I've got to say that Doolan doesn't look the part at all, I can't quite work out how Travis Burt is behind him.

Walter was excellent,he reminded me of Mitchell Johnson when he's at his best. He was very accurate and the ball that got out Bailey was a nice inswinger that had him plumb.

Cutting and Swan were both good. The game drifted a bit when the score moved from 8/94 to all out 156. Simpson bowled about 5 overs too many, despite having 2 stumpings missed off his bowling.

Just looking at the scorecard, you can pretty much tell who performed the best for Tasmania batting-wise. Butterworth looked strong as did Geeves and the QLD fielding was very good.

On to the QLD innings and I couldn't believe that Butterworth opened the bowling. Geeves after a fairly average first spell, had a brilliant second spell claiming all of his 3 wickets and MacDonald was also very good making the batsman play often.

Broad dropped on 24 by Butterworth, drove very well and looked like the best batsman. Carseldine didn't move his feet all innings and looked poor.

I think both sides number 3's are very lucky to be playing state cricket, I wasn't too impressed with Townsend who would have to be the shortest player in the comp.

QLD are going to have to bat well to even get first innings points IMO.
