Ponting attacks Gavaskar and Kumble

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
That link doesn't say anything about Ponting talking about Dhoni's captaincy but Dhoni's batting and in general that why T20s are less predictable and how luck is often accentuated in T20s as it isn't with Test cricket.
"Teams that are outclassed in five-day matches and even 50-over games are much more competitive in Twenty20. India offer a good example of this."

Must be said, this looks stupid after losing 3 tests to India in 2008.

The bits I like about these books are the little titbits about a players weird habits, or something funny that happened. To be honest, I'd rather a book full of those!

Haha, really! Smack in the face!

Lost home CB series 0-2 in the finals.

Lost the Perth test.

Lost 0-2 tests in India.

Poor timing. Not only on-field.

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah exactly. Gilchrist is entitled to his opinion, no matter what it is and it's his damn book! His comments, idiotic or not, will speak for themselves and defending the honour of the target of them is utterly pointless, especially since there's no currency to any of the text at all.

"Gilchrist shockingly re-iterates in his book the opinion he's publicly held for years that he thinks Murali is a chucker!"

Big deal.
And I am not entittled to mine that some of his comments were stupid?

You think? :p Makes Tony Greig's grovelling fiasco look like a run of the mill affair.

Come on, you know the rules around here...

Everything Aussies, and esp. Ponting says, is always true/he is entitled to his opinion.

Everyone else can just bugger off...

Of course you are, but I don't think it's that big a deal TBH. I'd be happier with people saying "silly opinion, makes little sense" and leave it at that, rather than have someone trying to justify his character and someone else trying to assassinate it and this being traded back and forth.

I never tried to ASSASINATE his character though..

You can check up on any of my posts on the issue.. I said he is being a bit of a moron and a lot of the stuff coming out of his book has been a lot of "holier than thou". And I thought he was not a guy who ALWAYS walked when he was out caught behind... At various other times, I have mentioned he was my favourite batsman in the Aussie line up and also a good sport.

Just not this whole "cant do no wrong cricketing angel" that so many seem to make him up to be. And his book has been his lowest yet, AFAIC, reg. the sportsmanship stakes. Just a lot of direct quotes from his book seem to be a little too "holier than thou"..

I guess he's referring not to you. Unless I am completely

I NEVER said that. My point was that a sentence does not make a book. You may have read a direct quote from Lord of the Rings, for example, but that doesn't mean you now know the whole plot. I don't even care what Gilly had to say and I couldn't care less what his opinions are, but if you're going to make sweeping judgements on a person from a few sentences from his 1000 page autobiography, then you sir, are an idiot.

Why? Aren't you also doing the same thing (calling him idiot on the basis of a few lines of posts in CW?)

Earlier this year people on here were criticising Sreesanth because in a domestic OD game he bowled a bouncer at Tendulkar and stared at him. Stared!!!
That means he doesn't respect Tendulkar at all, and thus doesn't respect his achievements, and thus doesn't respect all he has done for India, and thus doesn't respect India, and thus he is a traitor.

Is that so hard to understand?

LOL, Ponting - what a putz. Hayden-Ponting-Symonds is quite the trifecta in the Aussie team. To be fair, we have a quality trio in India too. But Harby puts us over the top IMO. India 1, Aussies 0.

I know Harby, Sree and then?

Gun thing about Harby is that he has said stuff hard to defend and so far has not come to bite him back.

It must be said, Ricky's predictive ability rivals my own.

Seriously, Hayden, Ponting, Symonds, Harbhajan, etc are morons to beat all morons but we need to ask ourselves why such morons exist and persist.

What's our role in their continuing to 'flaunt' their stupidity with such regularity? They wouldn't say it if their own countrymen (a majority of them) recognised they were being morons and said so instead of agreeing, in their millions, with the stupid 'pronouncements'
