Tour de France 2012

A moment of sadness yesterday. I was watching Froome and Wiggins at the front of the Stage 6 climb and thought, "I must go on CW and see what Craig thinks about them".

RIP. Says a lot there is no Tour de France thread on the board yet.

If Wiggins wins, and it's a big if, it would be one of the greatest British sporting achievements ever.

Yeah, I always think of Craigos whenever I see anything about cycling. Still can't quite believe he's gone, poor sod. :(

Anyway, go Bradley. Seems a top fella too, unlike Cavdenish.

Nah, too early for that as we havent even reached the Pyrenees yet

Tour could be decided on any of about 6/7 days

Wiggins has it won as long as he doesn't crash IMO

In a great position but has no real Tour pedigree and is not an elite climber

Much will depend upon his team because it could all turn to **** if he gets isolated on the big stages coming up

Isn't an elite climber but there aren't really any proper elite climbers in this tour who are genuine GC challengers. I'd say there are only 3 or 4 people who are genuine challengers, none of them are so much better climbers than wiggo that he'll be scared of them. There isn't an Andy Shleck/Contador type climber to really challenge.

Plus there is another TT which obviously plays right into Wiggo's hands.

thats a big gap, but it can be made back up

Spikey 09-07-2012 09:14 PM

I mean, the only way Evans is wearing yellow in Paris is if Sky gets busted before then

They undoubtedly have the best team which is more than half the battle but this a long way from over

2 stages ago, there was a moderate mountain stage, Sky were busted and Wiggins had to fight to hang onto the back of the others

He needs to do that 4 or 5 more times to be safe

uvelocity 09-07-2012 11:17 PM

that wasnt a mountain stage
