Went missing in a couple of games. Really good season but not consistent enough for AA.
Pretty much the second half of the season, he was a bit of a non-entity. Great start to the year though; basically when the crazy Irishman stopped providing a big consistent target, he struggled more. Garlett seemed better in the last two months.

Pretty uncontroversial team otherwise IMO.
Franklin over Pavlich is a horrible call, with Hall and Riewoldt already in the team. Otherwise i was pretty close. Hayes is stiff, but there are only 22 spots i suppose. Tend to agree with the viewpoint that as Sandilands averaged 110 mins a game, a second specialist ruckman is a pretty big luxury.

It had been foreshadowed via the shortlisting process, but no Leigh Brown is a travesty.

Pavlich was very ordinary for a big stretch of the year when he was injured. On first half form he deserved it, but after that...

Really, Hall to CHF and Franklin out for Hayes the only real thing I'd chance. And Hudson for Jamar.

He's a great player, but who would you omit for him? (Lemme take a wild guess and say Pendlebury or Didak?)
In terms of importance, he probably had a better year than Pendlebury, Selwood, Johnson and probably even Chapman, however in a team who finished mid table he was never going to get the nod over them.

I'm not one to push the barrow of my own teams players too much, but it's a trend that occurs often, i.e. Harvey's name being omitted when talking about the elite midfielders/small forwards. Doesn't really bother me, mind. Prefer us to fly under the radar.

Milne a bit stiff after his first 3/4 of the year I reckon. Stood up massively when Riewoldt was out.

And I know they don't count finals, but he had a great first week in September as well. Agreed, forgot about him when I was floating Rioli and Betts - Milne and Le Cras should have been the two forward pockets.

I would feel pretty neutral about Harvey getting in ahead of either Selwood or Johnson, but either of those two would have been just as stiff as him. And Hayes would still be out in the cold in that scenario.

Not really sure that Enright belongs in there. Obviously I'm forgetting some pretty special performances somewhere along the line, but my only memory of his second half of the year is thinking that he was gash.

Anyone else reckons Mark Thompson is feeling the pressure during this finals campaign? Some of the things he's said have been out of character, and at times he's come off looking like a bell end.

Obviously if they go out and win a flag he'll be vindicated, but at the moment I reckon he's feeling the pinch.

As much as he's given us grief about still having it all to prove in PF and GFs, and being jealous of the Cats - and he's right on both counts, if not about the "hatred" - I think he might be feeling that with the age of the Geelong team and maybe Ablett heading north at the end of the year, this might be the last time they'll be an absolute top tier team for a few years, and hence, he can maybe feel the chase's breath on his neck, and is getting a bit edgy.

Thought Dale Thomas was pretty good just now on Footy Classified, albeit pretty tightly controlled as you'd want the week before the Prelim. He says it's not a deliberate tactic, and maybe it is simply he's maturing as a person, but I think it's been exactly the right thing for him to pull back on the media stuff a bit and let his football do the talking - helped by the fact he's had his best season to date. Still only 23, which actually kinda surprised me when they said it.

Don't get FC up here, but Dale Thomas' voice is so annoying. It's like he's trying to put on a big manly voice, except he has a little girly body and girly hair. WAC.

I love Thompson as coach, but his new 'relaxed ****yness' persona is interesting. If he had been doing it for the last 4 years it'd be fair enough. But it kind of has mainly emerged this year. To me that suggests Ablett's possibility departure has had an effect.
