Yeah I wonder this too, we seem to pander to the Poms by going over there whilst not giving ourselves a good chance at winning it. Have a feeling it's something to do with schedules though.

I want to know is, why can't the NRL, be like the AFL, when they announce the season draw, and state in which round teams will play each other and on which day they play? Just an example is here (AFL) and the other example is here, and here. Why can't it be done for the whole season instead of just for every five rounds?

The reason behind the rant, is that I'm trying to organise an NRL-AFL sporting weekend in Melbourne with my best friend who is an AFL fan, but likes league as well, so we can take in both the Brisbane Lions (his AFL team) and a Melbourne Storm home game on the same weekend and be able to go to both. It's not the end of the world, but it would make life a lot easier so I can plan things and so both of us can save some cash up (since he is a Uni Student who works part-time).

I mean the AFL can do it, and they Chs 7, 10, and Fox Sports to contend with, the NRL only has Ch 9 and Fox Sports. But that require the NRL to grow some cojones.

The NRL doesn't do it due to the TV deal where NEIN wants to get the best matches free to air.

They don't know what the best matches are going to be in round 22 for instance. BTW they will never know what the best matches are going to be, so I don't support the way it is and think it should be changed!

When the TV deal changes, I think the NRL could give fans more notice compared to just the 6 weeks that they currently do.

Parra's "**** we're good this year, the other bloke'll do it" trial form continues - 0-3. Always slow starters, but hopefully we don't wait til round 16 this year to fidget the digit.

I'll give running the tipping a go if you like Clapo. Is there some sort of spreadsheet aid that you use, or do you just improvise?

Would be super thanks! I can send you the spreadsheet I used last year if you'd like?

Wasn't anything spectacular but i found it a lot easier (and less prone to mistakes) than trying to add them up each round

I think I just heard on the radio that Chris Houston has been charged in relation to the same drug supply ring as Danny Wicks - they certainly said there was another NRL player charged, and I thought his name was used.

Bloody hell, that's devastating for Newcastle imo - rate him pretty highly as a player, not to mention this news less than 2 weeks out from season's start.

Be getting on them for the spoon, sadly.

Edit: Yep. http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/l...0301-pd3y.html

Yeh Newcastle fans will be cut by this, can't see them winning any games early in the season.

Agree with the above two posts. Sucks for Knights fans, but how stupid do you have to be to push drugs while earning that kind of money?

Yeh no sympathy for the players but the fans are the ones who pay in the long run. The team loses sponsors, the club loses money, it becomes harder to attract good players. **** some people are brain dead.
