My Lions 44
A slow Saturday chez Brumby, so thought I'd have a bash:
Props: Graham Rowntree (England) Matt Stevens (England) Julian White (England) Gethin Jenkins (Wales) Adam Jones (Wales) Tom Smith (Scotland) Hookers: Shane Byrne (Ireland) Mefin Davies (Wales) Steve Thompson (England) Gordon Bullock (Scotland) Locks: Malcolm O’Kelly (Ireland) Paul O’Connell (Ireland) Donnacha O’Callaghan (Ireland) Brent Cockbain (Wales) Danny Grewcock (England) Loose Forwards: Martin Corry (England) Lawrence Dallaglio (Wasps) Richard Hill (England) Neil Back (Leicester) Martyn Williams (Wales) Michael Owen (Wales) Colin Charvis (Wales) Jason White (Scotland) Scrum-Halves: Dwayne Peel (Wales) Gareth Cooper (Wales) Matt Dawson (England) Chris Cuister (Scotland) Fly-Halves: Stephen Jones (Wales) Ronan O’Gara (Ireland) Jonny Wilkinson (England) Centres: Brian O’Driscoll (Ireland) Gordon D’Arcy (Ireland) Gavin Henson (Wales) Tom Shanklin (Wales) Olly Barkley (England) Mike Tindall (England) Wings & Full-Backs: Josh Lewsey (England) Jason Robinson (England) Mark Cueto (England) Shane Williams (Wales) Gareth Thomas (Wales) Geordan Murphy (Ireland) Shane Horgan (Ireland) Chris Patterson (Scotland) 16 Englishmen, 14 Welshmen, 9 Irishmen & 5 Scots. I'd have guessed at more English & Irish before the 6N & far fewer Welsh. The only two players I haven’t considered are Trevor Woodman (whose career is seemingly over with his contract being cancelled) & Phil Vickery who, if considered, I would take over Adam Jones. I don’t think he’ll recover in time tho. A few calls are marginal; I have a suspicion that SCW may take Will Greenwood still &, if he does, Tom Shanklin may miss out which would be a huge injustice as he’s been the best (Lions qualified) centre in the 6N. Cockbain might be considered a bit too lightweight so Sir Clive may opt for Ben Kay & I retain a nagging doubt that he may also take Cohen. I think on tours players who cover more than one position will be favoured: on this basis I’ve only picked 3 specialist fly-halves as Henson, Barkley & Patterson could all play there (& have in test Rugby). Matt Stevens also selected on this basis as he can play loose head or tight head, whilst Owen & Corry can also play lock & Shane Horgan can play centre. I’m aiming for at least 35/44!

Good week of super 12 with a shock result of the crusaders losing to the bulls, the bulls really have a lot of potential, if they were consistant, they could be top 4 contenders, but they cant seem to do much away from home.
The Blues are making a good recovery after that horror performance vs the crusaders, I feel if we make the semis we can win it. The brumbies are stuggling especially without larkham. I've been impressed with the highlanders lately |

Btw I know who the wife beating assault case was on, and once again it has been blown out of proportion. this is what actually happened.
His wife was out naked on the streets at night, all he did was bring her back in, he did not hit her, but he forcefully bought her back in. I don't see much wrong with that. I would have done the same thing. Last edited by psxpro; 10-04-2005 at 12:09 AM. |

What happened to my Crusaders this round? big slip up against the Bulls. Although it's not unusual for the Crusaders to stuff up against the weaker opposition.
Yeah i've also been extremely impressed with the Highlanders. They're clearly the least talented side in NZ but they're making up for that with great commitment & pride for the Otago jersey. Whatever Greg Cooper is feeding them at night seems to be working. |

I did not realise it was a nz site, so i thought it would be ok to post initials. Doesn't matter anyway, a big deal has been made of a small issues, the player didn't do anything wrong, most people would have done the same in the situation, its only becasue he is an All Black that people made it a big issue without knowing what happened. |
