    Reds go down fighting
Manuel Ramprakash Challenge Trophy - Cricket Web Red v Cricket Web Black - Day 5 - CW Oval

The result was inevitable when the day began, but Cricket Web Red still had a bit of fight left in them. In fact, the morning session was shaded by the home side, largely due to the efforts of David Kearsley and John Heads. Both players scored half-centuries and in total they put on 109 for the fourth wicket. And they were only separated by a freak dismissal, when Heads hit the ball back at the bowler Richards, and it deflected off his shin and into the hands of short-leg. The young man was out for 52, which included 8 fours and a lot of impressive character.

He left Kearsley to soldier on, and Nayak stuck in long enough to see him to a hundred. On his sinking ship and for the second time around, Kearsley held his head high. He departed for 106 and effectively ended the match. Matt Smith took the catch, but Heath Davis bowled the bouncer than got Kearsley into trouble and caught at fine leg. Three wickets remained for the taking, so Richards delighted in securing himself a 5-wicket haul. Sean Bennett played some good shots but also took several risks, so when he missed a calculated slog to be bowled, it was no surprise. Dan Smith triumphantly claimed all three stumps at the striker's end after the final wicket - West caught at leg-slip - having finally achieved what he has so desperately sought in all his time at the helm.

Cricket Web Black 1st Innings 620 all out (172.2 overs)

Cricket Web Red 1st Innings 195 all out (59.3 overs)
    DA Kearsley 50, H Mørk 29, GN Nayak 23
BC Donald 4-24, MJ Smith 3-76

Cricket Web Black 2nd Innings 292-9 declared (69 overs)
JJ Ritchie 71, BC Donald 68, AP Chaulk 39, DP Richards 30
MU Amir 4-71, MP West 3-58

Cricket Web Red 2nd Innings 395 all out (101.3 overs)
    DA Kearsley 106, JR Gray 58, JJD Heads 52, H Mørk 43
DP Richards 5-55, HT Davis 4-86

    Scorecard
    Ball by Ball

Cricket Web Black won by 322 runs.
Man of the Match: BC Donald
Sreesanth said, "Next ball he was beaten and I said, 'is this the King Charles Lara? Who is this impostor, moving around nervously? I should have kept my mouth shut for the next ball - mind you, it was a length ball - Lara just pulled it over the church beyond the boundary! He is a true legend."

Meh effort. Should never allowed Black to take twenty wickets.

Probably fair that Black went away with something in FC though.

The color of immortality, nature and envy - you are truly a unique person. While clearly the color of nature, you also symbolize rebirth, fertility and hope in the world. On the other side of the spectrum, a natural aptitude to money with green coming to signify money and possibly even *********!

    912 sadistic runs. Black rules.

Still, well fought Reds. Been a great season.

Fantastic win. Great to win an FC final, and really pleased with my performance. We struggled a bit throughout the season but thankfully came good at the end. Commiserations to Red, who remained determined to the end and have had a great season.

    GG Blacks, congratulations.
