James is England's best goalkeeper.
Hargreaves is picked because he plays abroad.
Contrary to popular belief, Heskey is actually damn good at what he does - and a lot of world class defenders HATE playing against him.

Phil Neville is just a confusing one for all of us (but he has now been dropped!)

If David James is your best, then it shows how bad England's depth in goalkeepers. And besides I would take Paul Robinson or Chris Kirkland over him anyday.

And what good job does Heskey do? Hack down players when you are leading 1-0, which costs his country the game? At the end of the day, the job for the striker is to score goals, but Heskey is clearly unpentratable. Sure they all go through bad pitches and when they can't put the ball into the back of the net, but 5 goals in 43 games does say a lot doesn't it?

And the fact that Hargreaves plays aboard means squat and is poor justification IMO, buy all reports he has hardly set the Bundesliga alight, and if we go off that reasoning, Jay Bothroyd of Perugia should be in the England team because he plays in Italy.

Defenders hate him falling down when a breeze picks up then? all this time i thought they hated big STRONG footballers running at them  8-)

Hargreaves is in the squad because of a combination of spite & conservatism.

He was thrust into the squad too early to spite the Welsh, Canadians & Germans who might've also fancied him in their teams (bung a full cap on em & their yours forever, rubbish or not).

He keeps getting picked cos Sven's a conservative. Once you're in the squad you've gotta be pretty spectacularly poo to be dropped (hence Heskey's continuing presence).

a) Agree, but that shows the current state of our 'keepers, then, doesn't it?

b) Yes, diving.

c) He's obviously not amazing, but I think he is pretty good in the holding midfield role.

a) He's actually a very good keeper, but has the odd lapse - hasn't had that many of them recently.

b) Compared to the oh-so-great One trick pony that is Cristiano Ronaldo...

c) Yes, but then you rate Forlan.

a) He was crap IMO in the recent friendly.

b) At least he can do something other than dive...

c) Forlan is every bit as good as Heskey.

Not really. The both don't score very many, base their main game on setting goals up for others - the difference IMO is that Forlan is better at that, Heskey just dives - and dives in, as we saw against France.

a) You clearly didn't watch it then - 2 or 3 top drawer saves in that game.

b) Yes I know, he can assault Iraqi's.

c) Yes and next you'll be telling us Phil Neville is every bit as good as Steven Gerrard - Heskey has actually scored goals in the Premiership.

So has Forlan.

Ronaldo was one of the best players for Portugal and in Euro 2004, he certainly did more then your belovered David 'sky-it-like' Beckham, and Michael Owen.

The Salford step-over king did have an ok-ish Euro 2004 (he said grudgingly), but Ash Cole had him in his pocket during the Quarter-Final.

Nowhere near as many in a team that's set up to give strikers goals.

Since when has Beckham been my "beloved"?
