Next - Tri Series in Holland (Ind, Aus, Pak)
After that - NatWest Challenge (Ind, Eng)
Talk about two needless ODI tournaments.

I suppose India's arguement for the Natwest Challenge as a warm-up ahead of the ICC Champions Trophey.

But if that is their arguement, then they might as well play against a heap of different counties.

Playing Aus and Pakistan in Holland is not a waste.
(1) It promotes cricket in Holland.
(2) It makes for good viewing.
(3) It beats playing Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

And what is wrong with the argument that they need the warm up?

India attaches a lot of importance to the ICC Champions Trophy.Hence they feel the need for the warmup.

Teams have warm up matches before the World cup , dont they ?

Atleast the 3 match series is being played before the main event , as a warm up. Unlike Aus next year where they will play a 3 match series after the Natwest series , which comes nowhere near the champions Trophy in terms of prestige.

1) Maybe if you offer a free joint or two it may help.
2) If you care about it.
3) ditto.

Usually against domestic sides.

India was supposed to play 3 tests and 5 ODIs in New Zealand in 2002-03 .But since the WC was so near , both agreed to drop a test and play 7 ODIs instead of 5.

Ajit Agarkar - RPO of 5.11.

That is the highest economy rate for any bowler in any of the big 8 ODI cricketing nations. About time he was dropped.
He's a wicket taker...

So cricket boards should follow communism ?

Making moolah is one of the aims of each and every ODI tournament . eg.Natwest triangular, Natwest challenge ( which sometimes closely follows the one metioned before :naughty:) , VB , Cable & wireless...

3 50s out of 120 matches is especially poor considering how people around here give him so much praise about his batting ability.
...and what are the chances that Nehra will score three fifties if he goes on to play 120 matches?

so only if india play ODI there is a problem what about england y are they hosting india.and india are paying all these matches after a long gap of 3 months.what about england which has now been playing continues cricket for a long time they could well have given a good break for their players.
reason because thay want more money look at next year ODI in egnland they play natwest series ans natwest challenge aganist the same team thay should well have made the final a best of five event :D :D

This is a very silly move by the selectors. Nehra for one is absolutely useless. His bowling is suspect, i recall someone above saying he had a good world cup, well thats because he took 6 wickets in a match against england where the ball was doing all sorts of funny stuff under the lights. he cannot field to save his life, useless at batting.

Agarkar on the other hand is a great striker bowler, who i reckon can work well with Pathan. He can also chip in with the odd 20-30 runs every now and then.

Nehra after the world cup:

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St
7 14 14* 14.00 0 0 9 3/44 42.33 0 0 0

Agarkar after World Cup:

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St
12 132 53 22.00 0 1 19 6/42 25.21 1 2 0

These stats pretty much sum it up!

Have England pulled out of tours claiming to be tired?

Didn't think so.
No, they have pulled out of matches claiming security threats.

BTW, India have rescheduled the tour not pulled out as you would like us to believe.

They pulled out, then a few weeks later rescheduled.

And security fears are a more valid reason than claiming to be tired then agreeing to play a lucrative series.

When did I say that Nehra will? I'm just saying, Agarkar is not an allrounder.

Yes, but atleast he's better than Nehra, isn't he? You yourself said you never said Nehra will score half centuries. :p

You yourself said you never said Nehra will score half centuries, which indirectly means that you think Agarkar is a better batsman than Nehra, not an all-rounder, but a better batsman, yeah?

And obviously his fielding is eons better, and bowling too. So that doesn't justify why you're not against AA's dismissal, as he is a better option than Nehra over-all. And if Nehra has been selected it means they have left out an evidently better player.

So on the context that AA is one of the best medium-pacers available, and not picked ahead of Nehra, who's a much lesser performer, the decision appears STUPID.

I frankly don't give a **** about who has the better batting ability, because this recent NatWest series has just shown the need for quality specialists. Judge him on the bowling, and Nehra is a better ODI bowler than the erratic Agarkar.

Agarkar more erratic than Nehra?

Have you ever seen Nehra bowl to Australia?
0/82 odd in the TVS Cup, 0/70 odd in the World Cup Final

Have you ever seen Agarkar bowl to Australia?

6/41 in the Adelaide test, 6/42 in a Melbourne ODI

Agarkar Erratic?!

Nehra is the most erratic bowler I've ever seen
