I remember just over 12 months ago when Paine was a surprise selection for Australia's T20 series against Sri Lanka.

The series at the end of the season was largely ignored even by local cricket fans but as it turns out that selection hugely significant because there's probably a fair chance Paine would've quit cricket without that selection (I think he may have said as much when he was selected).
