He opened regularly for England for several years prior to WWI, and along with Jack Hobbs, formed the most successful pre war opening partnership in Tests. Their opening partnerships yielded 2,146 runs at a brilliant average of 61.31, including the then world record Test match opening partnership of 323 at Melbourne in 1912.

Yeah it appears he only opened three times. And plenty of England players of that generation had a few innings opening. Doesn't really make sense.

Yeah the number 5 spot in this team is still available. Jackson played most of his innings there and averaged over 50 in that position. Would be better suited there.
