Good start from us but assuming this must be a weak representative team? Would have like to see Shanaka get some runs as he is someone I do rate.

Is there a reason he is listed retired hurt rather than retired out on the scorecard?

I guess it's just a mistake, but OTOH the Indian XI are out there with orders to injure as many key SL players as possible. Would explain why Thirimanne isn't retired hurt

It's actually a fairly solid team batting wise. I've never actually seen any of these guys bowl except for Avesh Khan in the IPL. Saxena's supposed to be a good spinner.

Thirrimanne got two wickets?? Didn't even realise the dude bowled :laugh:whoever got out to him should be flogged in the village Square lol

Thirimmane needs something to keep him in the team.

Funny that Samaraweera took 350+ FC wickets and hardly bowled in tests but Sri Lanka seem intent on turning non-bowling Lahiru into a spinning all-rounder.
He's bowled more overs than Lakmal, Gamage, D De Silva and Matthews.

I'm pretty sure Thirimanne actually bowls medium pace rather than spin. Samaraweera was a different case in that he started off as a specialist bowler - he even played for Sri Lanka essentially as one - and then became more and more of a batsman as time went on. He should have bowled more in the middle of his career but it's not quite all as silly as his FC stats suggest - he wasn't bowling domestically in the final third of his career either.

If it makes you feel any better, I was pretty unlikely to have decided to get Day 4 tickets anyway. I'm usually a Days 1-2 guy.

Good to see the confident Lankan's treating this mickey mouse warm-up game with the disdain it deserves. The boys must be hella confident of turning in a performance against the Indians

Gura is trying to reinvent him as an All rounder. Such is the genius of this strategist.
 It's ok, his best mate is captain anyway.. Don't get me wrong I did think he was someone we should have treated better. If we let him play his natural game as an accumulator, then I think he would have done better..
