Since England plays so much Cricket, it would've been wised to rest several senior players, and test out your bench strength because you never know, you might unearth a player that would be able to take England to #1.

Yeah indeed, Starc can still run in 20-30 overs into his innings and bowling in the window of 90-95mph and still throw out the quicker ball, you only have to look at the time he bowled that 99mph ball he was in the middle of a spell of ferocious fast bowling whilst NZ were 300 odd for 2 or something. Mark Wood could never do that, and if he tried he'd probably injure himself again. England's bowling is all very samey and the spinners are absolutely dreadful, watching the likes of Warner/Smith vs our attack at the moment is going to be very, very scary. Imo Broad hasn't much left and Anderson can't get fit.

You do realise Starc has just recently broken down with injury, do you?

No way Broad bowls that quickly.

Only Harmison and a tails up Flintoff have got anywhere near that speed in my time watching England.

Flintoff definitely got carried away with himself when he was bowling well. Probably part of the reason his knees got so bad

Not now sure, although even in India he hit 90mph a few times.

Broad's definitely had spells where he's been around the 90mph mark for a few overs and hit 92, 93,94mph earlier in his career and yet generally his average pace was around 85mph. Which is similar to what Wood has done for England so far.

I've never seen Broad bowl 94mph I have to say. 90-2mph max, yes?

Broad is too skinny to bowl fast, needs to hit the gym

What a time to be alive, India has faster bowlers than England

Besides, he is absolutely nowhere near the level of Starc and Cummins, Steyn is not as quick as he was but still hits 90mph and Hazlewood the same, mostly high 80s but can crank it up or down when required or when conditions either. Finn bowls like he's running through quicksand, he is nowhere near the potential he showed. Stokes is a machine but sadly he can't do everything all the time, especially as an all-rounder. He's good but he's not Kallis.

What do all you England supporters think about this revolting ECB executive telling Joe Root and England how to play cricket?

Joe Root told England must play exciting cricket - even if it leads to defeat
