Yeah no surprises you'd want a rule-free laissez-faire world with that bowing action - a ban on throwing is basically oppression right?

He'd be about 3/4 of the way through a prescribed full year away from cricket, due to a shoulder reconstruction. I recall the Manawatu Standard's reporter suggesting to him he must've thought hard about quitting at this point, but he wasn't having any of that. He still hopes his years from 25-28 can be as healthy as anyone else's.

So, I see it's now the Burger King Super Smash. Once again it's completely escaped the organisers' notice that anyone lives or holidays north of Auckland. Nice.

Surprised Hamish Bennett can't get a look in for either side.

Domestic schedule out as well. Not much difference to last season, except there's a few Ford Trophy rounds before the Super Smash, due to it starting later.

Anyone wanting a test spot against England will get two rounds of Plunket Shield to prove their case with the post-Xmas rounds starting on 1st of March.

Star Sports will probably broadcast that white ball series from Vizag like last time, so I certainly would've liked Chapman on tour, providing a bit of nimbleness and dink, to offset the blundering munt. At least there'll be no Devcich this time, so I'll be grateful for that small mercy.

Basically a statistical New Zealand 2nd XI from Gavin Larsen, except they've called bull**** on Ajaz Patel's wicket quality. No 'take Clarkson on the hunch he'll soon be important to us' type selections there at all really.

Wellington now looking to a former batting prodigy from Johannesburg to be its next substantive contribution to a World Cup campaign. He'll be available for the 2023 one, aged 31.

Sadly for him, he's got more chance of a blackcaps call up out of retirement than making parliament at number four on the act list.

An A tour! Great news! I only found out about this tour when I read the Dominion Post article about England chasing Shane Bond for their Ashes campaign. The article mentions that in the meantime Bond is coaching the A team on this tour.

Sean Solia is the only surprise selection? Looks like a strong squad.

Bond has worked with the country's promising fast bowlers in the past two years and applied for, and was appointed, New Zealand A coach for their tour of India which departs next week. It's Bond's first head coaching role, and shows his ambitions to further his career.

New Zealand Cricket are only contracting Bond for the duration of the September 23-October 15 tour, and said he was free to pursue whichever coaching opportunities arose after that.

I have said it before on here, but I see him as a future head coach of NZ.

Canterbury quicks Ed Nuttall, Kyle Jamieson to miss start of summer

A broken screw in his injured right foot will keep Canterbury fast bowler Kyle Jamieson sidelined for the opening months of the domestic cricket season.

Canterbury, the defending Plunket Shield and Ford Trophy 50-over champions, will begin the summer without their two frontline quicks with Ed Nuttall also out with a back stress fracture.
