Which team has the best tailenders?

Legitimately feel that apart from Lyon, all of Australia's tail could be good enough #8s.

Probably about right too, hence why they're so far ahead of the pack.

Similar in their ODI side, when either Hazelwood or Cummins were at 11. Insane depth.

Whenever India play Ashwin and Bhuvi they have a decent tail. It's pretty interesting that nearly all of the spinners that have turned out for India in the last few years are relatively competent batsmen. Jadeja, Ashwin, Mishra, Chawla, K. Sharma and Harbhajan are all pretty handy. Ojha's the notable exception.

Akram for mind. Though that double century was against Zimbabwe, batsmen like Saeed Anwar and Saleem Malik couldn't score a century in that match. One of his others was also against Murali.

Nah, 8 is not a tail-ender in my books, that's reserved for 9,10 & Jack for mine.

On the OP, Australia by the length of the Cook Strait.

Even if we call 8-11 as tailenders, Australia is streets ahead. Moeen is better than Johnson, Starc, Hazlewood and Harris but all those 4 are much better than Broad atm and Wood. Also, Lyon is much better than Anderson.

Incidentally, our No.11 top-scored in a national club one-day championship, with something like 2 centuries and a stack of other runs in a week. Not sure any other nation's jack could manage that. However, that's negated by the fact that anything over 140 clicks and he goes to water (and square leg) a bit, as does our #9.

Best tail of all-time? I'm being a homer but Cairns/Nash/Harris/Vettori in 99 would take some beating as a one-off.

Spark reminded me in the other thread that some of the SA tails of the '90s and early '00s were insanely strong. Some of their tailenders were good batsmen - Klusener, Pollock, Symcox, Boje, Boucher, Richardson

I don't reckon they're good enough. Have you been following cricket of late? Broad has been disastrous since the Ashes. Southee just gives it a whack. So, do the others. None of them can stick around for a while if needed.
But Johnson, Harris, Starc, Pattinson, Lyon and Hazlewood. So, can the Saffers and the NZ tail. I think every other country's tail can be quite easily blown away.

Broad and Wood are definitely better than Haze IMO. I know Broad's a bit of a joke right now with the bat so he's hard to rate, but I'd definitely still back him to score more runs than Haze right now (different case if it's to support a set batsman, tbf), and Wood is just straight up better.

Moeen was the tipping point for me though. It's just h4x to have him coming in at 8.

1. It seems Kohli now wants to play 5 bowlers.
2. Shami and Umesh are bad.
