Whatever it takes!!!
I just hope they figure out a balance though. We have had stacked test match seasons in the past too, though not this stacked. Or else we have had ODIs and T20s stacked. I wish somehow they figure out some balance towards this. Happy that Chennai is finally getting a game though. Hopefully the series is live and the game is awesome. And the city allows them to open the 3 bloody stands...

We haven't had a balanced cricket season in the last 6-7 years, I wonder how players motivate themselves and avoid burn out.

R Ashwin should like this schedule very much.

I got the impression that he became disinterested towards the end of the T20 season.

Mainly Dhoni got disinterested in him.

Hope we do well, but I am not too optimistic. England are by far a better Test side than India right now, and I'm not particularly confident about beating Australia and the Kiwis either, though I'd expect us to win those series. Will be over the moon if we win all three, and pretty satisfied if we win two and draw the other. Anything else will be rather disappointing.

Let's hope Pakistan expose that further (as long as they still lose :D)

Nah, their depth is unreal and ends up masking a lot of those problems. Or maybe my judgement is a bit too influenced by the very recent past.

I'd be surprised if India lost any of the series. Don't think either Eng or Aus can show up.

It's England's bowling which is the bigger worry than their batting. The SG ball is more similar to the Duke ball than Kookaburra, so the quicks won't face major issues in getting lateral movement, they have decent spin bowlers but seeing the way our batters play spin in tests recently, I'm not sure whether they will fare well.

India coach appointment is in it's final stretch now. From the 50+ candidates, 21 have been shortlisted. Media is going crazy over Kumble and it makes me cringe. I would prefer some one with experience at coaching. Vettori would be my preferred choice. He has worked with Virat at RCB, Virat recommended his name very early in the process as well.

Yeah, I don't like the decision. Thankfully it's for 1 year, but then he'll probably have great success over the home season which might lead to an unsubstantiated (IMO) extension for the overseas tours.

My dislike isn't personal. I don't think he's demonstrated coaching experience. He's more suited to a Director role like Strauss.

I have backed the fab four to take important positions in Indian cricket. However, the appointment of Kumble was crap. Coaching is a specialised job. Having experience matters in some thing like this. I can't think of any other job where you jump directly to the top in the country. Even Rahul Gandhi had ladder, albeit a small one. He may still go on to be the best coach ever but this is ridiculous.

He skipped the ladder and took the elevator called test cricket and having the right friends

The BCCI put out an advertisement for a new coach in the first week of June and received 57 applications, including Kumble's. However, it appears he was not among the 21 names shortlisted by the BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke's office. The Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, assigned to pick India's next coach asked for Kumble's name to be included, at which point he became an instant favourite.
All about connections isn't it
