Massive period coming up for two spots for World Cup qualification.

Ireland going to Dubai for prep.

“We’ve opted to leave Tim Murtagh at home to prepare for the long tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe as the staff continue to manage his workload.

Although not part of the squad, Craig Young will travel to Dubai, where he will bowl to the squad as he continues his rehabilitation from an elbow injury.

Ireland take on UAE on January 11 and 13, followed by two matches against Scotland on the 16th and 18th. All four ODI’s will take place at the ICC Academy ground in Dubai.

Ireland Squad

William Porterfield (capt), Andrew Balbirnie, Peter Chase, George Dockrell, Ed Joyce, Andrew McBrine, Barry McCarthy, Jacob Mulder, Kevin O’Brien, Niall O’Brien, Stuart Poynter, Boyd Rankin, Simi Singh, Paul Stirling, Gary Wilson.

Fixtures

11th January : Ireland v UAE

13th January : Ireland v UAE

16th January : Ireland v Scotland

18th January : Ireland v Scotland

This seems to be one of those weird tri-series with no final  Cant complain too much, though

Scotland Squad:

Kyle Coetzer (captain), Richie Berrington, Scott Cameron, Matthew Cross, Alasdair Evans, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Calum MacLeod, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Tom Sole, Craig Wallace, Mark Watt, Stuart Whittingham.

Scotland Fixtures:

16 January – Scotland v Ireland, ICC Academy
18 January – Scotland v Ireland, ICC Academy
21 January – UAE v Scotland, ICC Academy
23 January – UAE v Scotland, ICC Academy

I think that if the Scots can sneak in a win against the Irish, they get to join the ODI ranking table, with Ireland being a full member now

When they said there was going to be a 13 team ODI league, I had a feeling we would end up as the 14th team and miss out on all the regular fixtures.:@ A few new faces in this squad. Should be interesting though looks like a few of the county players like C Sole, Wheal and Davey are missing which is unfortunate.

With wins over SL and Zim in 2017, I reckon we're not far behind Ireland in the shorter formats. Hopefully we can get a few wins on the board in this tournament to keep pushing the case for more games.

IMO Scotland aren't too far behind Afghanistan or Zimbabwe either - they may not win series against them, but they can definitely win the odd game at home. The difference between the Big 9 and the Little 3 (Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Ireland) is much greater than the difference between the Little 3 and the top Associates.

With participation numbers apparently at an all time high, increased funding from the ICC, and now being a neighbour of two full members, things are looking good for Scotland.

In a different part of the world, USA will play in the WICB Regional Super50.Makes sense, since Canada will be in Namibia for WCL Division 2.

Hey Cribb, would you put a bit on Mujeeb in each of these markets tonight?

Or will Zimbabwe watch for that 'tell' Grant Elliott was talking about with the little finger, negotiating his spell in a way wet behind the ears New Zealand kids couldn't.

Oh righto, that money went down the drain. Solomon 'fortune favours the brave' Mire at $9 to top score for Zim better come in, seeing his lucky stars insisted on Mujeeb going wicketless.

There are 5000 domestic cricketers in Netherlands? WTF. That's 5 times as many as HK.

Man we are tiny aren't we.

good stuff from Zimbabwe today

How is Asghar Stanikzai still captaining Afghanistan? Some of their U-19 batsmen are better than him.

Just saw the Zimbo result. Big confidence booster. Taylor in the runs.

WC qualifiers next month are going to be so interesting. All sides will be fighting with everything they got.

Wonder if it will be televised.

Exact same scores in the 2 odis with teams reversed. So weird.
