Despite having a meagre First Class record in which he averages below 30 and being in and out of the Victorian Sheffield Shield side over the last two seasons, Aaron Finch believes he'd be ready for the Test call-up now if it came based on the strength of his ODI career, where he averages 24 in 15 games against Test sides.

He's proven himself at international level though.

yeah this idea that Finch has proven himself at ODI level is perhaps more concerning than the idea that Finch is ready for test match cricket (mainly, of course, because the former seems like something the selectors could believe, as opposed to the later)
