Australia A tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe

Cummins is a class above. Not too many quicks in the world, if any, bowl 94mp/h+ consistently, especially a 20 year old.

Having heard his interviews he didn't seem to rate himself as a chance for the return Ashes series, but you'd think if he got through some good overs here, and against South Africa A, and started the shield problem's free, he'd have to be in contention. The thought of Pattinson, Cummins and Harris on Australian pitches is jizzworthy.

Maddinson is a second innings lead building specialist, would make my day if Warner fails here

And he did. Chatara got him for 11. From Zimbabwe's prespective, they've so far matched it with Australia A in the bowling department, but Zimbabwe's batsmen are nowhere near up to challenging Australia's bowlers.

No shame in these blokes getting out to Jarvis but when Chigumbura has three wickets in the innings and the score is 150/8, massive problems.

Now he's got 4.

With 3 in the first innings.

If this is our next generation of batsmen.....

Meanwhile, Fawad showing Maxwell how it's done, 4 wickets in each innings now, with one still to be taken, this guy isn't finished with the Australian set-up yet, hope he bowls well the rest of the tour.

All done. Australia A have won by 80 runs. I can only wonder if Hamilton could have found support in any of the other top 5 batsmen what the result may have been. The Zimbabwean bowlers should be pleased with their efforts, but their batsmen will have to improve dramatically if they want to at least test India in the upcoming series.

No Rudolph for SA? Guess they aren't gonna go down that path again. I'm looking forward to Ahmed bowling again - this time against some better opposition, also hoping Doolan starts to make it count at A level, he might develop into a decent bat for the national team.

Did cricinfo just swap the wicket from de Lange to Abbott? Could've sworn it said Marsh was bowled by de lange earlier.

Yeah they did. They thought de Lange opened the bowling and evidently didn't realise their mistake until it was announced de Lange was coming into the attack..

Am I the only one that finds it strange that a guy who isn't good enough to play for his state is opening for Oz A?

I admit the guy has talent but surely Finch should score a run or 2 at state level before being promoted

You aren't the only one, some of us have mentioned it before. The issue was that Smith was originally captain and Finch vice with the ODIs in mind. When Smith got his Ashes call up, instead of making someone like Paine captain, they just gave it to the vice. Its a shame that Maddinson was left out for him, despite Finch making some runs.

Daemon, he hit 3 consecutive boundaries 9 overs later too.

I think after seeing this Warner will displace one of Australia's top six. Im betting on it being Hughes but I guess Smith would also be on the edge were it not for his wickets.

Would definitely rather Maddinson and Silk opening/playing over Finch and Marsh considering that neither are likely to get a Test call up. Better to at least give the young guys more exposure and look towards the future.
