Syed Kirmani

I saw enough of Kirmani during the 80s to convince me that he wasn't far off APE Knott in terms of skill. And maybe even better when standing up to the stumps because of his renowned stamina in hot Indian conditions. Apparently Kirmani had no breaking point and would be just as sharp when making a stumping at 6 pm as 11 am.

Admittedly not as talented as Engineer with the bat, but still a stubborn No.8 who scored some good runs against decent attacks and averaged 27.04

OK, Farokh Engineer it is. Can't see Kirmani or anyone else making a comeback from here.

Wondering where to go now? I'm thinking bowlers.

Please select a TRIO of bowlers. That is, 2 opening bowlers and a first change.

It will be interesting to see whether the first change bowler is a third quick or a spinner;

Quicks
Javagal Srinath
Kapil Dev
Zaheer Khan
Mohammad Nissar
Amar Singh
etc

Spinners
Anil Kumble
Bishan Bedi
Erapilli Prasanna
Subhash Gupte
Bhagwah Chandrasekhar
etc

Please note that your 3 bowlers may influence who is later selected in the No.6 spot (eg. a specialist batsman, or an allrounder like Vinoo Mankad, or even Kapil Dev for the brave). So choose carefully.

(Kumble 4th bowler)

I'd actually bowl Kumble before Bedi on most wickets, but Bedi is first picked spinner.

It appears (maybe) that most CWers will be choosing a spinner as their first change bowler. So in a way the first change bowler will be a popularity contest to see who India's all-time favourite spinner is.

Or will CWers do something farely unique and give the Indian ATG team a 3 man pace attack for a change.

This will be interesting!

It definitely has to be a spinner. I just don't know which two I'd pick.
