I wanna see some **** run in and take a wicket while chomping on a Cornetto.

There should be a line of bain maries from the top of the bowler's run up to just behind the umpire. Could run in with the ball in one hand and a plate full of food in the other.

Need to break the WR by 200 runs in a line-up with a left-handed Ponting*, a Clarke who has developed a recent vulnerability to unplayable deliveries and Watto. Not optimistic.

*may as well bat cack, tbh.

Well actually, nothing that weird has happened in 135 years of test cricket.
very rare for anything like this kind of target, with the available time remaining being set though

even though the loss is likely, if it occurs I just hope we at least stand up and fight

That's only because of the position they are in, within a fourth innings. It's pretty unique. Many of the flattest of flat pitches that only got through two innings would have made a target like this chaseable if there was no time limit. Just look at the timeless test of RSA vs ENG.

Not saying it will happen, just that the situation is so unique that from this situation a victory might not actually be all that earth-shattering (if the situation was played out over 20 times or so).

Ponting scored 196 vs England 6 years ago to help Australia score 9-602, so a repeat of that effort would be fantastic...

...hopefully the stars are also llning up for him to score 196 as a common number for this test :)

Amla scored 196
Johnson now has 196 wickets
Ponting ends his career on 196 catches

Hastings and Johnson down the order helps matters. SA probably one bowler short. History is there to be made.
