Greatest away side at the home of cricket;

All-time Overseas Lords Test XI (Minimum 2 tests)

Gordon Greenidge 471 @ 78
Graeme Smith 411 @ 82
Don Bradman* 551 @ 78
Dulip Vengsarkar 508 @ 72
Allan Border 503 @ 100
Garry Sobers 571 @ 95
Brendon McCullum + 222 @ 55
Richard Hadlee 26 wkts @ 21
Malcolm Marshall 20 wkts @ 17
Shane Warne 19 wkts @ 19
Glenn McGrath 26 wkts @ 11

Interesting Dulip Vengsarkar is the only overseas batsman with 3 centuries at Lords.

Interesting that you broke down McCullum's Lord's career to his 2 matches keeping there. He's had 2 relatively poor tests without the gloves
Well my criteria was as designated keeper. The next best cab off the rank for a keeper was actually B J Walting.

Smith's Lords record must be good right. If only he remained unbeaten in one of those two knocks this series

How about Test XI for players who never played a test (i'm sure this has been done but im not scrolling thru 115 pages to check)

Pretty sure there's been a 'best Test XI never to play' thread. Dominated of course by the likes of Clive Rice. If it excluded those South African who couldn't play due to the apartheid‎ it could be quite interesting. Likely to be dominated by some very good Australia players of the late 90s/early-mid 2000s of which there were very few opportunities to break into that top XI.

I ve not checked the last 116 pages either. ATG team with one player from each test playing team. Any better team?

1. Jack Hobbs
2. Barry Richards
3. Don Bradman
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Andy Flower
6. Gary Sobers
7. Shakib Al Hasan
8. Andrew Flintoff
9. Richard Hadlee
10. Wasim Akram
11. Muthiah Muralitharan

I really don't get why you picked Flintoff there. You even picked another English player so you really didn't need him. Why not pick Marshall, Imran or Ambrose instead?

World XI :) That is the only team apart from the ten test playing nations that has played a test.

I like the idea of Murali as the World XI player; I think I'd give Sanga the gloves if I did that though.

1. Jack Hobbs (England)
2. Sunil Gavaskar (India)
3. Don Bradman (Australia)
4. Jacques Kallis (South Africa)
5. Andy Flower (Zimbabwe)
6. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)
7. Shakib al Hasan (Bangladesh)
8. Imran Khan (Pakistan)
9. Richard Hadlee (New Zealand)
10. Malcolm Marshall (West Indies)
11. Muttiah Muralitharan (World XI)

I'd bring Sobers in for Marshall in Asia where only having two specialist quicks wouldn't be such a dilemma.

The other option is to have Lara as the World XI player, drop Sanga and make Murali the Sri Lankan. I rate Lara higher than Sanga as a bat but that'd mean either giving the Flower the gloves or picking a wicket keeper from somewhere else and I'm not keen on those options.

I could pick Rahim I guess.

1. Jack Hobbs (England)
2. Sunil Gavaskar (India)
3. Don Bradman (Australia)
4. Jacques Kallis (South Africa)
5. Brian Lara (World XI)
6. Andy Flower (Zimbabwe)
7. Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh)
8. Imran Khan (Pakistan)
9. Richard Hadlee (New Zealand)
10. Malcolm Marshall (West Indies)
11. Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka)

Sanga was a better gloveman than Rahim though and I also lose the second spinner, so I'm not sure it's really worth the trade-off for the slight batting advantage.

Yes, I like your previous team too. Though I too love Lara, Shakib and Sanga provide better balance than Lara and Rahim.

Flower (Zim)
Sobers (WI)
Imran (Pak)
Shakib (Ban)
Boucher (World XI)
Hadlee (NZ)
Murali (SL)

Second XI

Hutton (Eng)
Sehwag (World XI)
Sangakara (SL)
Tendulkar (Ind)
Crowe (NZ)
Mushfiqur (Ban) +
S. Pollock (SA)
Akram (Pak)
Streak (Zim)

Yeah Mushfiq ****s as keeper. Not worth it against Murali and co. Shakib just about perfect as he is giving second spinning option too.

Hate to be the party popper but when did McGrath play for the World XI in tests? You can't use the tsunami game like this... :p
