Sehwag will be the pivotal player this series. A lot of India's fortunes will rest on how he performs.

All down to the bowlers, imo, if you can't bowl a team out in the first innings, that is pretty much game over, there.

Ponting has the Aussie HS vs India with 257, and he can claim a couple of more Aussie vs India records in this series:

- Score 102 runs to become the leading Aussie Run Scorer (Hayden has 1888, Ponting has 1787)
- Take 2 catches to become the leading Aussie Catcher (Mark Waugh has 29, Ponting has 28)
- Score a century to become the leading Aussie century maker (Ponting, Boon and Hayden all have 6 centuries)
- Score 2 ducks to equal the most Aussie ducks (Warne has 6, Lee has 5 and Ponting has 4)
- Equal Allan Border as Captain of the most tests (Border has 11, Simpson & Waugh has 10 and Ponting has 9)
- Extend his captaincy record as the most Aussie losses (Ponting has 4 losses and only 2 wins from his 9 Tests)

No other players are close to any records. For India, current players already hold most of the India vs Aus records:

Most Runs: Tendulker with 2748
HS: Laxman with 281
Most 100's: Tendulker with 10
Most Catches: Dravid with 44

....oh hang on, Tendulker needs 4 ducks to equal Ajarker's 8 for most ducks

When was the last time the Commonwealth Games were in India?

Quick look at the papers also indicate a fair bit of hype for them.

Not saying you're wrong obv, just saying I think people tend to get more interested in a home event like the CG with all the related stories surrounding it once it starts.
Not in India mate!

Honestly people dont give a damn about other games. Its sad but thats how it is...

In September and October? I see your plan....rain stops play :detective
I reckon the ball would do a bit though, wouldn't it?

It was doing enough today in conditions that weren't really all that heavy - even I was getting the ball to go both ways in a coaching session this morning in spite of the cloud base being even lighter and higher than it was up at Trent Bridge.

If I was an Aussie Selector.....

1. Katich
2. Watson
3. Ponting
4. Clarke
5. Hussey
6. Smith
7. Haddin
8. Hauritz
9. Johnson
10. Hilfenhaus
11. Bollinger

12. Hughes

If Hauritz is not fit, Hughes opens with Watto # 5, Hussey # 6 & Smith # 7

India's line up should be:

G Gambhir
V Sehwag
R Dravid
S Tendulkar
VVS Laxman
Any one whose name is not Yuvraj
MS Dhoni
Ravi Ashwin
Harbhajan
Zaheer Khan
Ishant Sharma

Ashwin FTW.

I would like a Harris or Siddle type bowler if we are going to play 3 quicks - Not confident in the fast bowling partnerships when we have Bollinger, Hilfenhaus and Johnson.
