    Here's more on the story....

BBC SPORT | Cricket | International Teams | West Indies | Windies contracts row escalates

I'm really stunned at the levels to which the lack of professionalism exists at the WICB!

This current WI side have played the ODI series against India, the 20/20 World Cup, and taken part in the tour of England, all without a contract. And now, this is another one that's about to take place. No other employer would get away with this slackness!

Do they not have contracts because WICB haven't offered them one at all in all that time, or is it that WICB have never offered one that is acceptable to the players?

The tour of England was not on the FTP, and even though the WICB knew it was on a long time ago, they waited until April to try to negotiate terms. Naturally, they failed to find a common ground, and that has carried over to the world 20/20 champs, the ODI series with India, and now the home series against Bangladesh....

This is due to start in a couple of hours isn't it? Anyone know what's happening, have West Indies managed to raise a team yet?

Edit: my mistake, it's tomorrow. Having the England Test starting on a Wednesday threw me.

That means, the WICB will probably have a replacement team ready shortly before the toss tomorrow....

Just listening to Tony Cozier on 5 Live. He said that Tino Best and some schoolboy regional batsman are apart of the side. Looking at real bottom of the barrel stuff.

Also, according to Tony, a West Indian board member told him that the Windies should go down the Zimbabwe route and withdraw for two years to get their house in order.

I really really hope this doesn't happen. Ramnarine and the WIPA have done a lot of good things and have taken the WICB to task, but actually boycotting a test match would be the last straw for me.

I travel many miles to watch West Indies play, and stay up ridiculously late to watch them on tv no matter what I have to do the next day. The fans do not deserve to be treated like that, so I pray it isn't true.
The players don't deserve to be treated this either.

Playing 4 series without an official contract system in place is simply unacceptable.

Sounds like it could be a really close, competitive match then.

Chance for Tino to make another assault on the windows, eh?

Yeah, 15 should be enough ... not Nixon McLean is it?

Thought: has any side, anywhere, changed its entire playing XI from one Test to the next? Even the Second World War didn't cause that to happen.

It would certainly have happened back when England and Australia sent second string sides on non-Ashes tours in the 1930s and before. Not sure if it ever has since.

MCLean to have Match figures of 12/105

Low Scoring Match it'll be, I still think the Windies will win. Unless if the replacement players are short on Match Practice.

If Bangladesh can't beat that, then there is no hope for them.
