Gayle looked capable, he was the big wicket.

Simpson was absolutely awesome tonight, was it a harsh call to give him stumped? At the ground watching the replay (half cut) it looked like he had made this ground.

Phillipson and Dunk were very good too, Symonds played such a dire shot first ball, couldn't believe it.

There is some talk at the moment about Rimmington playing for Australia in T20, I think both of the other 2 QLD quicks, Harris and Cutting are capable also.

I'm very pumped to go to the GABBA again on Tuesday against the Vics, should be a good match, just the like the previous match between the two sides.

Hopefully I can make the Tuesday match as well.

Simpson's dismissal as an odd one, he got back but his bat bounced and the bails came off in the split second it came up. I had always thought that was safe tbh but obviously not, thats the third new rule I have discovered in the big bash.

Even though the home side won... you would have only got to see 23 and a bit overs tonight.

Hopefully that is the wake-up call SA needs to charge on home and win the Big Bash and go as far as possible into the CL.

Just got back from the game. Warner was amazing when he got going. Those four sixes off Tait was something special.

Was pretty impressed with the bowling of Starc. Bowled with some really good pace, was very lively.

Stevie Smith looked pretty good with the ball. But really don't think he has enough in his game to ever be a Test spinner. But has decent control and bowls smart enough to be a good ODI/T20I 5th bowler.

SA really need to recall Borgas for the final. You can't rely on Afridi in the top order. He is basically a specialist bowler these days that can hold a bat. Putland adds very little with the ball.

Also Hughes wouldn't look out of place in an Australian T20 side, very underrated T20 batsmen. Will be a very good signing for a IPL side.

As a batsmen I can see Stevie go a long way. But as a bowler he does look very limited. But T20 is not the best form to judge a bowler especially spinner. But considering the situation you would have thought he would have brought his vareity out a bit more. But anyone guy that can bat in the top 6 or top 4 and can ball better then decent 10 overs is going to be handy to any side.

Afridi isn't playing in the final I thought? I figured that's why they played Putland tonight, give him a game before the final and all.

Agree with Hughes re T20. And the Warner-Hughes T20 partnership, when it lasts more than 2 overs, is deadly

I am thinking of smith is a 2nd spinner option in tests in the future.
Defeinitely a chance in one dayers via hopes spot, smith takes a wkt a game in ford ranger,so his numbers are up.
Would not look out of place as a reserve player in a tour suad.

Yep, that's the story. Has been one of the better grade bowlers about the place so deserves his spot. Swings the ball a long way when he's going.

I'm pretty sure Smith bowled a flipper or two, before the 6 and out by Pollard, one shortish ball seem to skid onto Pollard who almost got bowled and almost edged it behind. He'll probably fall into the Watson mode if he makes the Test side where his batting is his main focus while his spin will be handy.

I didn't know Afridi wasn't playing the final :(.

Redbacks just came into the game with the wrong attitude, taking it a bit easy because they have made the final..dosen't matter though..NSW played good.

How fast does Putland bowl? 135ish?

Would he ever be considered for the sheild team?

The signs were bad against Tas too; as I said earlier in the thread, their warm-ups were very casual and with the bat they were a bit lacking (notwithstanding a 6/4 collapse). The same ordinary decision-making against Tassie which resulted in a few close-calls were wickets against a stronger side like NSW. Were saved by a monumental effort with the ball (which is where I said they'd struggle this year in the Big Bash so eh, what what I know?).

Should be next in line after Haberfield, really. Has good grade numbers but that doesn't seem to matter too much this year. Still, think he's been 12th a couple of times.

Has the best nickname, though; Minigolf.

haha yeah gun nickname, I've seen him a couple of times and he looked pretty good, should be above Wise and Duval for mine.

Would add a bit of Variety to the attack aswell with his left arm swingers.

Yeah I just checked, hasn't played a first class game for the redbacks yet.
